This really is an Ebay treasure: a genuine Dutch registered Prince Skyline S50! Yet again I received this via Japanse Klassieker group on Facebook, Roland Verheijen posted it on their page:
I knew they have been sold in (small numbers) in the Netherlands but never had any hope one would turn up for sale once. Well, today one did turn up for sale and it really is a treasure!
Don’t have high hopes for this one as the body is very rusty: Continue reading
Today I spotted this 1966 Toyota Crown S40 for sale in the Dutch classifieds:
What I really like about the car are the high mounted fender mirrors: exactly like they had them in Japan. Now I’ve seen some other S40 crowns with the exact same fender mirrors so I reckon they were standard like this.
Now it is a bit more special than being “just” another standard 1966 Toyota Crown S40 as it actually got its roof chopped off over the full lenght of the car: Continue reading
The first generation Mazda Luce was sold in Europe as the Mazda 1500 and Mazda 1800. As Mazda was using its performance image, thanks to successful rotary engine racing, to sell cars naturally the Mazda Luce 1500SS (Super Sport) performance model was also sold. The treasure today is such a model, hence the SS badge on the grille:
The Mazda Luce 1500SS had a twin carburettor setup added to the existing 1490cc Mazda UB engine which increased the power from 78PS to 86PS. Not a lot, but enough to make the car more responsive.
This particular 1500SS seems to be in pretty good shape: Continue reading
It has been a while since I shared a worthy treasure from the classifieds/auction sites. Today I found actually two treasures, but this right hand drive 1967 Mazda Bongo that got lost in Hungary was the best one:
Judging from the “Painter & Wallpaperer” and phone number on the side of the van it feels like this Mazda Bongo had an earlier life outside Hungary.
As I mentioned before, this Bongo is actually right hand drive: Continue reading
It is always sad to see an abandoned project for sale, especially if it may be a well known Nissan Silvia S12 Grand prix widebody:
According to the ad the Nissan Silvia S12 Grand Prix has been stripped to bare metal and all rust has been resolved and a cage has been welded in.
Everything has been properly coated except for the hatch and bonnet: Continue reading
Back in the early 80s I managed to get my hands on a Mazda brochure that included the Mazda RX7 FB and many times I dreamed away think I would drive in one. Shortly after that the Ferrari Testarossa arrived and that literally blew away any boy-dream of owning a sportscar and I ended up solely drooling over Ferraris. I think a similar thing happened to this Mazda RX-7 FB that got some Testarossa treament:
Perhaps the owner bought the car and restyled it in Testarossa style a few years later?
Anyway, the (useless) side intake definitely looks as enormous as the one found on the Testarossa: Continue reading
