Baggy Trousers with my Honda Civic – Family Album Treasures

The owner of this second-generation Honda Civic strikes such a strange pose that I immediately had to think of the wacky Madness Japanese TV ads for the Honda City! It’s like he’s doing that strange Madness-walking dance!

If you are unfamiliar with what that dance looks like, this is the album art of the Madness Honda City LP that was released in Japan:

Commercial Time: Honda Ballade becomes a ball of dances

The Honda Ballade was a loaded subject between Honda and Rover. Honda helped out British Leyland in the early 1980s by allowing BL to build the Honda Ballade locally and sell it as the Triumph Acclaim. When the second generation was due in 1983, the Ballade was redesigned and based upon the same platform as the third generation Honda Civic. However, the rebadged version wasn’t an Acclaim. It now was sold as the Rover 200.

Down on the Street: HellaHi Civic EG in the rain

Today was a rainy day and it kind of ruined my schedule this morning to take a small video clip of some car I’d like to feature in Down on the Street with a video. Nevertheless in the afternoon I spotted this HellaHi Civic EG when I wanted to pick up my son:

Of course I left the GoPro at home and I have no real dashcam. So the phonecam had to do all the work. It was a shame I could not take more pictures as the whole line of cars started to move and after the railway crossing I had to take a left turn. Too many things to do at the same time and otherwise it would have been dangerous.

I followed the EG for two or three streets as it was going in the same direction, but there were no other opportunities to take photos. This Honda Civic EG was done nicely with white rims with stretched tires that were nicely tucked underneath the fenders. Stickers were a set of HellaHi/Fatlace/Illest and the car wasn’t really HellaFlush at all, so therefore I called it the HellaHi Civic EG. 😉

Down on the Street: illest Hungarian Honda Civic EF progress

It has been a bit quit here lately, but I’m back from my vacation to Hungary! Like every year I make photos of all interesting (Japanese) cars I see and like every year I also visited my parents in law. Opposite of their apartment someone owns the illest Honda Civic EF that I covered two years ago and this year there was some progress on the Civic:

Sorry for the grainy photos, but when we visited them it was already past 9 in the evening which means in an Hungarian summer it will be dark. So I had to keep my hand steady and shoot the photos because this was the only time I could take them and there was no other chance…

Anyway, the Honda Civic EF has been fitted with some really fancy rims that look like Enkei mesh rims: Continue reading

Down on the Street: Blue 1979 Honda Civic Mk1

This morning I was driving from my son’s school to work and took a wrong turn as people were digging up in one of the streets. That happened to be a lucky break as I passed this great looking blue Honda Civic Mk1:

The little car looked awesome, especially in the early morning light.

The tenth owner must really love its little Honda as the car got treated on a bucket seat (with beads!) for the driver: Continue reading
