Carina Sightings: Carina Vans in Abunai Deka chase

Last week I spotted an Abunai Deka episode featuring not only one Toyota Carina van, but actually three of those Carina vans! Enjoy the vans:

As you can see detective Takayama chases a silver Carina van, overtakes a white Carina van at 1:19 and finally stops the wrong silver Carina van in the end. Well, the leaf sprung Carina van was no match for the Suzuki motorcycle anyway… As far as I could tell at least two of the three vans were DX models, so either a TA67, KA67 or CA67.

Back in 1986 when the Abunai Deka series were shot (broadcasting was from 5th of October 1986 till 27th of September 1987) the Carina van was still sold, only to be discontinued in April 1988.

I was doubting if I should post this video in the Car Chase regular or the Carina Sightings. It (obviously) became the latter…

Carina Sightings: Carina van TA67 rustoseum

In one of my rustoseum searches I came across a very sorry looking Carina TA67 van left behind in the middle of nowhere:

All windows are gone, roof looks like it could serve as a pool and the inside looks like a farmer used it as a shed. :D

You can see big dents on the side and the side mouldings are missing everywhere except on the rear door.

There are two things I would actually have wanted from this Carina: the round headlights (I can at least start a collection then!) and the wind deflectors.

Carina sightings: the famous Carina firevan part 3

By chance I stumbled upon a picture of the famous Carina firevan and by chance I looked if the source of the picture also had more pictures of the car.

Lucky enough the source did: it also featured a short video of the firevan starting its Beams 3SGE engine, so you can now listen to that orchestra of 4 trumpets!

The owner is playing some nice music! :D

This picture is shot at the same meeting as the first picture of my first posting about the firevan. The pattern of the water is the same and probably the rain stopped after a while and things dried up after that. ;)

I have no idea why this picture was taken… Maybe these three pictures and video belong to a bigger set of pictures taken at a car meeting?

You can find the other two postings about the firevan here:

Carina Sightings: Danish Carina tractor

Okay okay… I know… I’m slacking here, but today I’m ill and feel like I really need to go to bed EARLY. Something that did not happen in the past few days. :(

Anyway, here it is: the Danish Carina van tractor

I was probably already beyond saving anyway, but still… I would at least tried to save it! :(

Carina sightings: the famous Carina firevan part 2

Just found the profile of the owner of the third Carina Van (the black one) in this picture:

So more about that black Carina Van in a later Carina sighting. ;)
I also found out all three Carinas are indeed all vans! I noticed the front bumpers having their indicator lights inside the bumper! That was only delivered to the Carina Van, so all of them must be vans! I corrected this in the other topic as well.

About the Firevan: I found in the profile of that third owner some photos and additional descriptions of the Firevan!! :)

It is good spell of engine

Don’t mind the spelling of this Google translation, but I think the message is clear: 3SGE with ITB and 6 speed transmission.

And ever wondered how stretched those tires are? Or actually how far you can stretch tires?
Stretched tires on E-SA60 Carina Firevan, about as far as you can stretch them!
That’s how it looks if you put a 155 wide tire on a 9J rim! That’s real Shakotan! ;)

Anyone got more pictures of the Firevan for Part 3? :P
