Commercial Time: Sprinter Trueno GT Apex AE92

The Sprinter Trueno GT Apex AE92 only had one drawback: progress!
Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT Apex AE92
With the E90 platform of the Corolla and Sprinter Toyota finally moved to FWD only. Even the sporty Trueno and Levin coupes were now front wheel drive, or should I say wrong wheel drive? :P

I must say the AE92 lines are really a refinement of the ones we had seen on the AE86 and the GT engine options were excellent: you could choose from the small-port 4A-GE or the super charged 4A-GZE, so if only Toyota stuck to RWD… Continue reading

Video: LHD Nissan Skyline 240K in Kuwait

There have been only a few places around the world that actually got LHD Nissan Skylines during the late 60s and 70s: (some countries in) Europe and the Middle East. Most Europeans did not care very much for Japanese cars and our climate isn’t that friendly to them either, so guess where you can find them nowadays…

Bingo! ;)

In the Middle East the rust monster leaves them alone and their only thread is a bunch of Kuwaitis hooning a couple of LHD Datsun 240K C110s and C210s: Continue reading

Down on the Street: little red Mitsubishi FTO

About one year ago I spotted this Mitsubishi FTO in my rear view mirror and when I drove home from work after picking up my brand new Civic I spotted the little red FTO parked on the side of a street:
Down on the Street: Mitsubishi FTO
Of course I could not let it pass, parked my car alongside and started taking snapshots. The old guy in the photo was not related to the car and had no idea to who it belonged nor was he impressed when I told it the car was actually quite special.

Even though the FTO is the little FWD brother of the Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT it is a design of its own: Continue reading

WTF: ATS Cup rims on an AE86?

Sometimes you google on something and after pressing enter you realise you actually shouldn’t have done that. One of my searches regarding the Hungarian Civic on ATS Cup rims was one of them… I ended up finding this:
USDM Toyota Corolla GT-S AE86 with ATS Cup rims
USDM meets JDM meets Euro Veedub?

BTW: Now there is nothing wrong with fitting a USDM Toyota Corolla GTS AE86 with a JDM bumper and replacing the factory pizzacutters with a set dished rims! Its just that over here in Europe it is a quite strange choice of wheels…

Brilliant: Honda Museum in Google Streetview

A couple of days ago I read on Jalopnik that the Honda Museum in Kanazawa (Ishikawa Prefecture) in Japan is now available on Google Streetview. Of course you can’t read all the fine details on the exhibits but you surely can get a good impression of the museum and if I ever go to Japan I’ll certainly will visit the museum!

Next to the entrance this Honda RA271 formula one car welcomes you:

Next to it is a pristine S600 convertible.

Upstairs you will find even more formula one cars, like the world championship winning RA272: Continue reading
