A few days I go I already posted about winning the tail lights and the very same day I received a package from Japan (from a different AY source) containing a set of Soarer Z10 centercaps, Carina mudflaps, Carina brochure and this little yellow 1/64 scale Toyota Carina GT-R:

I got it for a bargain price and did not expect much from it until I read this posting last week and was very impressed by it.
I compared it against the Hotwheels Skyline KPGC110 GT-R I bought some last week and I was shocked by the difference in quality! See also this picture: Continue reading
Honza (aka Gred) sent me a link earlier this week with a link to a perfect Carina TA62 coupe. Apparently it is for sale for a mere 38000 Czech Koruna (1900 US dollars) which is next to nothing for a nice example like this one!

One of the first things that I noticed is that looks like it had a recent respray that is following the OEM JDM Carina panda paint scheme.
The second thing were the, obvious, deep dished wheels. Continue reading
Finally I’ve been able to win a pair of them: the kouki Carina sedan tail lights seem to be made of unobtainium these days! Big thanks to Ewan from Hayatonka!

And as an added bonus: even more kouki headlight surroundings, grille, city lights and indicator lights!
Too bad the package won’t make it before Christmas. :'(
Yesterday I posted up the Tercel AL11 I found on the street and Simon said it resembles the Starlet quite a lot. Yes it does, but it distinguishes itself with one thing, this is something the Tercel can’t do:
Apart from the Starlet I see about half of Toyota’s early 80s lineup: a lot of Levin and Trueno AE86 plus a Celica XX (called Celcia Supra outside Japan)

I found this little black bugger parked on my way to work and since it was black I thought there could be no better way than to post this in black and white. ;)

The car was imported into the Netherlands in 2005, meaning it registered just one year before becoming an oldtimer, just like my Carina did in 2006. The Tercel features the 1.3 liter engine, so it must feature the 2A engine under its bonnet. Imagine swapping that for a 4A-GZE! Would just create insane tiresmoking front wheels at each and every traffic light!
It was parked at this spot for only a few days and then disappeared into thin air.
