Down on the Street: Suzuki Alto SS40

Last week on Friday I picked up my son from school. Since it was such nice warm autumn (or fall) afternoon and he was playing happily with some of the other kids at school I took a short hike in the street of my son’s school. Then I spotted this well used Suzuki Alto SS40:

Actually Wikipedia refers to it as the SS80 and I only read this later after I made this video.

You can watch the video below:

Down on the Street: wrapped Toyota FJ Cruiser

When I spotted a Toyota FJ Cruiser in the centre of Amsterdam I immediately thought of Mr. Regular‘s review of the FJ Cruiser. I think it was his most intellectual review so far and he starts yakking about simulation and simulacra.
Down on the Street: Wrapped Toyota FJ Cruiser
The general idea is that the Toyota FJ Cruiser is the car that was made as an hommage to the original short wheelbase Land Cruiser but kind of failed as it turned out to be a suburban beast. I kind of agree and disagree on his view: the FJ Cruiser *could* be also used properly in offroad conditions but as it has ordinary tires mounted it generally sucks at that.

Long story short, watch the video below: Continue reading

Down on the Street: Honda Prelude Mk4

I spotted this fourth generation Honda Prelude in the parking lot of my previous employer. The Prelude itself is the European 2.3i model with 4 wheel steering and is rapidly becoming a rarity.

Even though it looks stock there have been a couple of modifications on this car: the tail lights have been replaced by Lexus-look items and a tow hook has been added. I really wonder who thought a tow hook would look great on a car? Well, given the engine has 209Nm torque it should not be a big problem to haul a caravan with this car…

I did change the format of the Down on the Street video since last time a bit: Continue reading

Down on the Street: a JDM Eunos Roadster!

During my weekly Saturday shopping I spotted a Eunos Roadster parked in a busy shopping street. Naturally I stopped and checked it out!
Down on the Street: Eunos Roadster
The Eunos Roadster is a rarity on the European continental soil as it is right hand drive and we had more than enough of the “normal” Mazda MX5 supply.

I decided try something different and make a down on the street video of the Eunos Roadster this time: Continue reading

Down on the Street: illest Hungarian Honda Civic EF progress

It has been a bit quit here lately, but I’m back from my vacation to Hungary! Like every year I make photos of all interesting (Japanese) cars I see and like every year I also visited my parents in law. Opposite of their apartment someone owns the illest Honda Civic EF that I covered two years ago and this year there was some progress on the Civic:

Sorry for the grainy photos, but when we visited them it was already past 9 in the evening which means in an Hungarian summer it will be dark. So I had to keep my hand steady and shoot the photos because this was the only time I could take them and there was no other chance…

Anyway, the Honda Civic EF has been fitted with some really fancy rims that look like Enkei mesh rims: Continue reading
