Carina Sightings: Ruslan’s Toyota Carina AA60 coupe timelapse video

I found this awesome Toyota Carina AA60 coupe timelapse video by accident on Youtube. The creator is called Ruslan and judging from the numberplates (correct me if I’m wrong here!) he is from the Ukraine.

The timelapse video shows you how to plough through Ukrainian traffic in a Toyota Carina AA60 coupe. What especially is nice about the video is that his coupe has the optional digital dashboard and you can see it function very nicely. It looks just as awesome (and 80s) as the digital dashboard on the AE86 and Celica XX/Celica Supra.

Japanese Rustoseums: two stacked Nissan Skyline KPGC10 GT-Rs

It doesn’t happen often to find a pair of stacked Nissan Skyline KPGC10 GT-Rs in a junkyard, let alone one of them chopped in half. A half rusted Skyline in a junkyard and half overgrown is obviously a great subject for photography. That’s why I found it not odd to find the same stacked (half) Nissan Skyline KPGC10 GT-R twice on the interwebs:

First stack is a Nissan Skyline KPGC10 on top of a Nissan Skyline C210. The Mazda Savanna (RX-7) in front of these two Skylines still appears as if it could just drive off and fence off its (rusty) fate.

Getting a bit closer made me suspect that the top Skyline actually only exists out of the rear part: Continue reading

Down on the Street: Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec BNR33

Yesterday was a great day for spotting Nissan Skylines: during the morning I tried to find a shortcut through my home town as I was in a hurry and BAM! I spotted this white Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec BNR33!

Later that day my wife phoned me while I was driving, so I pulled over and spoke to her on the phone. Whist doing that I heard this deep growl and before I knew what was happening a dark red Nissan Skyline R32 passed me! (followed by a lowered Honda Civic EK) In both occasions I did not have the time (or means) to take a photo…

I kind of gave up on the idea of taking a photo of the R32, but today I returned to where I spotted the white BNR33 and to my relief it was still there: Continue reading

Picture of the Week: Lexus LS400 Cutaway

This time this cut up Lexus LS400 is not a cutaway drawing but the real deal:
Picture of the Week: cutaway Lexus LS400
It is a bit of a shame I could not find a real cutaway drawing of the Lexus LS400 as this would have made an excellent example on how accurate the drawing would be. Also nice to note that since September this year the Lexus LS400 is officially a classic car now as the early models reached the age of 25 years.

Commercial Time: Nissan Sunny and Stanza ad goof up

This 1983 Nissan Sunny B11 ad is a real gem: 30-ish female person is tied up on a half sunken boat and almost gets eaten by an inflatable rubber alligator while two bad guys in white suits and white hats (both a Panama) watch it happen and cheer on the inflatable rubber alligator:

Then she shouts for help from Sunny and a Nissan Sunny B11 Turbo sedan rushes in and the guy saves the day.

This obviously would make a fine commercial in Japan in the early 80s and would make a horrible vintage cult classic nowadays. However keep in mind that in the very same year Nissan promoted the Nissan Stanza T11 in Japan with the following family in a Stanza:

Yes, both father and son are wearing the very same white suits and very same white hats (also both a Panama).

Carina Sightings: Yokosuka’s Toyota Carina AA63 for sale

Occasionally I browse Goo-Net to see if there are any interesting Toyota Carinas for sale, like a Carina Jeune or a 20v Carina. So when I spotted Yokosuka’s deep blue Toyota Carina AA63 for sale earlier today I really felt a strong pain in my heart:

Why? It is one of the nicest Carinas around and he put so much time and effort in the car!
Yes it really is the same

On the positive side, this allows us to have a peek on all the internals of this beauty: Continue reading
