Aoshima Seibu Keistatsu Machine RS-1 1/43 diecast

One of my favorite postings at Japanese Nostalgic Car blog is the Friday Video. Most of the time they feature the old Japanese police cop series, from which Seibu Keistatsu the most frequently returning series is.

I found pictures of this perfect Aoshima 1/43 diecast of the Seibu Keistatsu Machine RS-1 (????RS1??) on a Japanese blog:

All (fog)lights in the front valance are correct!

And I love the tiny details: a rear wiper on the rear window!

This model is so detailed, even the stickers on the side have very very tiny decal saying 4 valve DOHC next to the bigger RS-Turbo letters! And even the window mouldings are silver! ??????

This picture shows the additional features of the car, including the machineguns mounted on the roof!

And of course the inside of the car is just as detailed as the outside! The big computer console is just like in the series! ?(´??)?

Compare the pictures above to this video footage of the RS-1, RS-2 and RS-3:

It may not be as detailed as the perfect AE86 by AutoArt, but think of it this way: the AutoArt AE86 is 1/18 and this is a 1/43 diecast! So this diecast is more than twice as small and the total length is about 10 centimeters! Then think of all those tiny little details on it! Now that is small!

According to the blog this new detailed diecast is available since April 2009! Now all I need is someone outside Japan selling this diecast! ?(????)

Video: the universal language

Even though I don’t understand a word Russian, I do get the feeling I understood about 90% of what the guy said in this video about his Celica AA63:

From what I understand is the following:

Welcome to my garage. As you can see I also have a German Ford Taunus Mk III which is very very rusty. On the other side of my garage I have my Toyota Celica AA63 coupe. It features a 4AGE engine and GT seats. I stripped it completely bare because it is so rusty and I’m doing a full rebuild. To do so I needed an engine lift, which is in this corner, to remove the engine and transmission. That’s about as far as I got with my project.

Maybe it is because I’m getting used to watch and try to understand Japanese car videos or could it be that there is a universal language called video???

Commercial time: Honda Vigor promotional video

This week someone I follow on Youtube posted a promotional video of the Honda Vigor. This typically eighties stylish video was made in 1989 when the third generation Vigor was launched:

I’m not too sure about what it should say… Is it supposed to be a Luxury car for Italian lesbian Countesses? Or is is supposed to be a fun car for the driver (gear shifting with an automatic, jumping through narrow Italian streets)? Or is it supposed to say that anyone buying this drives a RHD car on the wrong side of the road? I don’t know, but maybe there is a hidden message behind that stylish eighties video…

Oh, and an Engrish mistake in the credits: apparently everyone but the cast is not considered human anymore:

Video: Toyota Starlet Grand Cup 1994

I love the sight of an old P6 Starlet: both the bugeye and the facelifted version. One of my previous neighbors (an old guy) owned a white five door KP61 which he bought originally in 1982. I asked him if I could buy it from him whenever he wanted to part from it. He told me he would never do such a thing! So, that was exit Starlet, welcome Carina. :D

Anyway, I found this great video of the Starlet Grand Cup in Japan in 1994:

Here in Holland we also had a Starlet Cup in the 80s, but unfortunately that was the P7 Starlet Cup. I didn’t know they were still racing those 4K engined RWD Starlets in the 90s! Funny to see those Starlet with the N2 fenders and TRD decals driving like small go karts! Damn, now I want one too! :)

Touge drifting video from 1995

This amateur drift video (3 parts), made in 1995 on the Hakone Pass, also shows that AE86s back in those days were very popular as well. I counted at least 8 or 9 different hachi-rokus, however it is a bit difficult with so many stock hachis:

I did spot a Z10 Soarer, KE70 corolla and a KP61 starlet as well. Other popular cars are the RPS13 180sx and the S13 Silvia. Must say all these cars resemble the stock look of the early Initial D chapters, which of course is the same period. ;)
