Hilarious: Initial D Cosplay (part 2)

Seven years ago I posted a funny picture of Initial D cosplayers, so when I bumped into these two cosplay pictures I remembered the first vividly:
Hilarious: Initial D Cosplay
I must say these costumes are really sturdy made: three of them are based on shopping strollers. Itsuki’s Levin looks horrible, Takumi’s Sprinter Trueno even worse and the Subaru Impreza 22b looks acceptable. Ryosuke’s Mazda Savanna RX-7 looks the best and I bet the most sweat and tears were put into that costume!
BTW: the best looking character is Bunta Fujiwara in the Subaru! That guy really lives up to the original role!

Now there is another Takumi in the second picture: Continue reading

Sanctuary: the Initial D Fujiwara Tofu shop (Haruna)

Yes, a new idea/section/regular just emerged: sanctuaries!
Why? Well basically last night I suffered from insomnia and for whatever reason my mind wandered to the original Initial D Tofu shop which is located in Shibukawan next to Mount Haruna (the town called Akina in Initial D) and that the original tofu shop has been demolished about three years ago. This is the photo Alexi took to prove it has been demolished:
Sanctuary: Intitial D Fujiwara Tofu Shop in Haruna
So I was wondering how many fanboys actually posed (or their cars) in front of the tofu shop when visiting Shibukawan or Mount Haruna, so here is a whole gallery of cars, tofu shops and people posing in front of it!

Also in case you are wondering where to find the place, this is the location on Google Streetview: Continue reading

WTF: Fujiwara Tofu Shop Nissan Sunny RZ-1

I’ve seen many Fujiwara Tofu Shop (private) inspired vehicles so far, but this Nissan Sunny RZ-1 B12 is done in such perfection that if the original was a Levin you had to look twice to see the difference.
Initial D Nissan Sunny RZ-1 B12
Of course it does help that the Nissan Sunny RZ-1 B12 and the (kouki) Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 share the same silhouette and have a similar headlights/grill. Nevertheless I can’t recall ever seeing pictures of a panda Sunny B12.

Brilliant: Maeda Tomato Shop panda red Levin AE86

About ten years ago it was very hard to find a panda white Sprinter Trueno AE86 at all and nowadays it is more or less a challenge to find one that was originally delivered in panda white!

The owner of this panda red Levin AE86 must have thought his car was just the opposite of the panda white Trueno:
Panda red AE86 Maeda Tomato Shop
The writing says Maeda Tomato Shop (private) and what is the opposite of tofu-white panda? Right: tomato red panda!

ITT2012: Bunta and Takumi

The Dutch Toyota importer Louwman has been neglecting their heritage and clubs for the past decade. With the launch of the Toyota GT86 (aka Toyota 86 and Scion FR-S) they decided to change that and asked the TACN if they could join in and put the Toyota GT86 on display during the festival. They also has some sort of social media contest (which IMO was rubbish and did not do) where you could “win” 4 rounds on the Midlands circuit in Lelystad. It was still a nice gesture.

Near the end of the day one of the AEU86 members went home and parked his kouki panda red Corolla GT AE86 next to its siblings:
ITT: Father and son
I immediately walked over and shot a couple of pictures of father and son next to each other. ;)

Quickly popped in my 28mm lens to make the angle wider: Continue reading
