Sanctuary: the Initial D Fujiwara Tofu shop (part two)

Yesterday I already posted about the demolishing of the Initial D Fujiwara Tofu Shop and that it used to be a shrine for Initial D fans throughout the world. For those who felt really sad about the demolishing: the store front actually has been saved and moved in 2012 to the nearby Yokota Museum.

What happened was that there was no original store. Shuichi Shigeno just drew up a tofu store that resembled the average tofu store in small Japanese towns. When Andrew Lau and his crew were scouting locations in Shibukawan for the Initial D movie they found the Fujino tofu store and it resembled the store in the manga quite well and they altered the sign to Fujiwara Tofu Shop. After the movie Mr. Fujino never changed his sign back to Fujino Tofu Shop.

I made a couple of manga cut outs to show the difference between the manga and the Fujino Tofu Store: Continue reading

Sanctuary: the Initial D Fujiwara Tofu shop (Haruna)

Yes, a new idea/section/regular just emerged: sanctuaries!
Why? Well basically last night I suffered from insomnia and for whatever reason my mind wandered to the original Initial D Tofu shop which is located in Shibukawan next to Mount Haruna (the town called Akina in Initial D) and that the original tofu shop has been demolished about three years ago. This is the photo Alexi took to prove it has been demolished:

So I was wondering how many fanboys actually posed (or their cars) in front of the tofu shop when visiting Shibukawan or Mount Haruna, so here is a whole gallery of cars, tofu shops and people posing in front of it!

Also in case you are wondering where to find the place, this is the location on Google Streetview: Continue reading

Down on the Street: blue Nissan Skyline R33 GTST

There are occasions where I only spot a car once and there are occasions where I spot a car multiple times… This 1993 Nissan Skyline R33 GTST is, as of this Monday, one of the latter cases:

Basically one of my colleagues told me some people were making photos of a Ferrari in the parkinglot at work, but actually there was a tuned car parked next to it that I might be interested in. So I walked outside and found this (lightning) blue Nissan Skyline R33 GTST parked behind it. Yes that is a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta parked in front of the Skyline but who gives a fuck about Ferrari F12s? Skylines interest me much more… ;)

Actually I have to admit that I did not really realize how special the Ferrari was until I looked it up… Yes I’m completely in the dark regarding modern Italian cars…

Anyway, as I found out later on looking up the license plate the Skyline only got transferred to the current owner this Monday, the day I took these pictures: Continue reading

Family Album Treasures: Toyota Sprinter Trueno TE47 zokusha

This Toyota Sprinter Trueno TE47 was a corner case: I could have posted it on the bosozoku style blog but decided otherwise because it contained an excellent Family Album Treasure:
Family Album Treasures: Trueno TE47 zokusha
The Sprinter Trueno TE47 is actually one of my favorite cars and high on my if I ever win a million I will have to buy this car list. And it is not like it is made from unobtainium: they were sold in small numbers here in Europe. :)
The Trueno is actually owned by his buddy, hence he is not in front of the car. But there is a nice bosozoku vibe in the picture: hanging out with your gang buddies.

More interesting is what his buddy did to the Trueno TE47:

Overfenders and deep dished SSR Mk 1 rims at the rear. Looks like the stock Toyota fenders got some banding treatment as well.

Down on the Street: Nissan Sunny GTi-R N14

I found this beautiful Nissan Sunny GTi-R N14 parked in the town next to my hometown.

I actually returned to the “scene of the crime” to take photos of a Nissan Silvia S14 I spotted a half year earlier but I lacked to bring a camera back then. So I was quite surprised to find this GTi-R parked on the same spot!

I actually spotted a white Sunny GTi-R before on the Wangan Warriors 10 meeting but it is not the same car. So I was lucky to spot a second one of these great little cars!

Yes it is a genuine GTi-R: Continue reading
