Last week I discovered Ka Ko (via Rocketpencil) who posts Best Motoring videos on an almost daily basis! :)
One of the gems he posted last week is the very first edition of Best Motoring Hot Version:

As you can see there is a thrilling battle in this episode: the infamous Keiichi Tsuchiya battles with an (almost stock) Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 the (back then) brand new Toyota Corolla Levin GT Apex AE101 featuring the new 20 valve Silvertop 4AGE. The battle is very very close even though the AE101 has a lot more power under the bonnet!

Video: 1988 Mitsubishi Mirage cup race

Regular readers know I have a weakness for the third generation Mitsubishi Mirage (which is also known as the Mitsubishi Colt outside Japan) because it was my first car. I guess everybody has the same thing with his/her first car… So of course I was very excited to watch this ’87 Mitsubishi Mirage cup race taken from an 1988 Best Motoring video (posted on Youtube by Rocketpencil):

Of course my Colt wasn’t as quick as this the ones zooming over the circuit (mine actually featured the slowest 1.3 SOHC carb-ed engine) so I can only dream of what performance must have come out of the 4G61T powered Mirages. The specs on Wikipedia speak about the range of 200hp, so not bad for a 1.6 litre Twin Cam Turbo engine. ;)

I’m a subscriber to the Practical Classics Magazine and I just noticed their March 2014 cover:

British versus Japan?
Kujira Crown coupe versus Ford Capri?
Triumph 1300 versus Corona?
Allegro versus Compagno?
Marina versus Bluebird?
Cavalier versus Accord?
I think only the Kujira Crown is going to lose in this battle! ;)
Oh boy, I can’t wait till it drops on my doorstep!

This video has been posted in the past but AE86Lan polished up the video and it looks much cleaner now and there is even a two minute bonus with in car video of a Nissan Laurel C33 with a RB20DET and a Nismo R200 LSD!
