Down on the Street: Datsun Cherry E10 in office building!

This Datsun Cherry 100A E10 on a set of KN Jupiter rims just happened to be somewhere in the background of a Dutch news clip. It happened in a flash and I had to replay the video twice to confirm it was indeed a 100A Cherry E10. It took me 5 minutes to figure out where it actually was located…

The news clip featured a meeting room sign with the name The Louis. I googled for it and came across a shared office building called B. Building in the south-west of Amsterdam that featured a bookable meeting room with that name.

On that very same site I also found some photos of the foyer featuring the Datsun 100A standing on top of the entrance. That’s actually the photo I featured above. There is actually a link with the Datsun: the building used to be the Nissan European headquarters in Amsterdam and was later used by the clothing brand MEXX as it’s headquarters.

I found a video from 2017 about the office building with a couple of shots featuring the Datsun Cherry:

Toyota Celica ZZT231 bass player [Car spotting]

On my way walking to the hospital I encountered this parked Toyota Celica ZZT231. From the rear it stood out with that big fat exhaust pipe and the bass player sticker indicates what the driver does for a hobby. ;)

Toyota Celica ZZT231

The bassplayer is a 2001 Toyota Celica GT-S ZZT231, so that means it is powered by the more desirable 2ZZ-GE engine. The 2ZZ-GE engine is often called the successor of the final generation of the 20 valve 4A-GE (blacktop) where it advances the technology used in the 4A-GE blacktop. The VVTL-i is the successor of the VVT used in the blacktop, where the L denotes the dual camshaft profile.

German Cross

On the inside there was a weird gearshifter knob: it had the shape of a German cross. See it in the video below: Continue reading

Initial Ka: 10hp for this worn Initial D sticker! [Found on the Street]

In this video we have an Initial D sticker applied to a Ford Ka. Would this make it an Initial Ka?
Initial Ka: initial d sticker plus Ford Ka
Sunday is always a special day. That’s the day when you go out, take a long hike in the woods and eventually end up where most people go to after a long day out: a small local restaurant. Last Sunday I ended up doing exactly what I just described.

In the parking lot of the restaurant a small sticker drew my attention: an Initial D sticker! The sticker looked old and worn, but unmistakably it was an Initial D sticker! What was worse: it had been attached on the bootlid of a Ford Ka, delivering at least an additional 10 horses!

Mazda MX5 NB by I.L. Motorsport [Down on the Street]

Welcome to another Down on the Street video!

Mazda MX5 NB

Today’s car spot is a Mazda MX5 NB with a very interesting body kit. I found it parked on the market square in my home town in front of the cinema. From a far distance I spotted the little MX5 and the closer I got the more interesting it became. I noticed the twin exhaust pipes and the wide flared fenders and decided it was definitely worth making a video of this car.

I.L. Motorsport bodykit

It took me a while to find the manufacturer of the bodykit and I only managed to find this picture of it. The bodykit has been developed by I.L. Motorsport in Germany somewhere in 2003 and thirteen years later there is nothing more I can find out about it.

Sex Spec Styling

The styling of the bodykit has aged a bit and it leans against what Marty and Moog from Mighty Car Mods call sex spec styling.

Mazda MX5 NB Super Bird [Down on the Street]

Mazda MX5 NB Super Bird

The Mazda MX5 NB is the second generation of the Mazda MX5. Just like the NA it is small, lightweight and nimble and it is just an awesome car! Someone has made this NB just a little bit more awesome…
Down on the street: Mazda MX5 NA Super Bird
At first I thought this was another one of those stickerbombed Mazda MX5s but as I got closer I noticed there was a whole different painting on the fender. I have no idea what it is supposed to be but it looks like someone painted a lot of birds on it.

Down on the Street: HellaHi Civic EG in the rain

Today was a rainy day and it kind of ruined my schedule this morning to take a small video clip of some car I’d like to feature in Down on the Street with a video. Nevertheless in the afternoon I spotted this HellaHi Civic EG when I wanted to pick up my son:
HellaHi Honda Civic EG
Of course I left the GoPro at home and I have no real dashcam. So the phonecam had to do all the work. It was a shame I could not take more pictures as the whole line of cars started to move and after the railway crossing I had to take a left turn. Too many things to do at the same time and otherwise it would have been dangerous.

I followed the EG for two or three streets as it was going in the same direction, but there were no other opportunities to take photos. This Honda Civic EG was done nicely with white rims with stretched tires that were nicely tucked underneath the fenders. Stickers were a set of HellaHi/Fatlace/Illest and the car wasn’t really HellaFlush at all, so therefore I called it the HellaHi Civic EG. ;)
