After an extra long Christmas weekend, all we can do is just sit down and be a couch potato. So why not just stare at this beautiful cutaway drawing of a hardtop Nissan Skyline C210?

The fifth generation Skyline was also better known as the Skyline Japan. It received this nickname due to the Nissan TV ads emphasizing the Japanese origins of the Skyline by ending the ad with an American voice-over saying “Skyline…Japan”. A collection of ads can be found below:

So what about the Skyline C210 in the cutaway drawing? Can we somehow identify what model and trim level it is? Yes, we can. As it has round headlights, it’s the pre-facelift (zenki) version. The trim level can be identified with the brochure page below:

The Skyline C210 in the cutaway drawing is the GT-ES model. As you can see in the picture above, the seats match the GT-ES. Even though the GT-ES was the lowest trim level for the Skyline 2000 GT, it’s hardly the lowest of the Skyline C210. The hardtop was also available in the 1.8 litre TI trim level.

The GT-ES is the non-turbo variant of the L20, the L20E. The L20E had a respectable output of 130 hp and with that butter smooth straight six it must have been a delight to drive!
