Friday Video: Keiichi Tsuchiyas old drift cars

July 24, 2015 in video by banpei

We all know that Keiichi Tsuchiya loves his kouki Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 drift car, but did you know he owned a couple of other legendary cars before that? For instance this Nissan Skyline 2000GT GC10?
Keiichi Tsuchiya's Nissan Skyline GT GC10
In this Best Motoring video Keiichi Tsuchiya explains what cars he used privately to tear up the touges: a Nissan Skyline 2000GT GC10, a Nissan Sunny 1200 GX5 B110, a Toyota Starlet S KP61 and a Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-V AE86.

The first short clip is covering the Nissan Skyline 2000GT GC10:

Yes it is an original Nissan Skyline 2000GT with surf line rear fenders and a two litre L20.

The second clip covers the Nissan Sunny 1200 GX5 B110 (till 2:11):

He already mentions that the Sunny has way less power than the Skyline.

The third clip covers the Toyota Starlet S KP61 (till 1:25):

In this clip he mentions that the Starlet is even more underpowered, so to maintain speed he really needed to do side braking (= drifting).

In the last clip he covers the Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-V AE86:

Being not that underpowered he really slides the AE86 around the corners.

All four cars are obviously not the originals he owned, but they do give a nice insight in Keiichi Tsuchiya’s roots. Even though his roots used to be commodity cars in the 70s and 80s they are nowadays more or less legendary cars.
