DOTS: Miata hunting! (part eleven)

Earlier this week I passed this MX5 during my lunchbreak. It was parked around the corner of the office building where I work and apparently it really stood out. Yet again I have to apologize for the crappy quality of my phonecam, but I didn’t have anything better with me on my after lunch stroll…

Looking a bit more closeup you can see it has been lowered and modified extensively:

From this side you can already detect an aftermarket spoiler, bumper and sideskirts…

And even closer you can see it has got an aftermarket exhaust, rollbars and you can also recognize the MIM 5400 rims:

Even though I’m not a big fan of these MIM rims I certainly think they look great on this car!

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part ten)

Already beginning of the month again? Then it is time to perform another Miata hunt! This time the bit more beautiful Mazdas!

How about a nice grey NC?

Okay, I cheated a bit here… This Miata was parked in front of the Mazda (and Hyundai) dealer. Nevertheless it was blocking the sidewalk and thus right down on the street! ;)

This very nicely done NB with aftermarket rims passed me somewhere in (slow) traffic and I quickly took a picture:

Never saw the NB again but surely would like to take some more pictures of it.

And last one, a dark green NA with 90s aftermarket six spoke rims:

Parked in an industrustrial zone only 300 meters from where I live, but separated by railroad tracks.

BTW: sorry for the poor quality. I took all these pictures with my (new) phonecam but only realized afterwards how worthless it actually is!

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 9)

How about a red Miata Hunting post for a change? Well, I did find these two cars parked next to each other a few blocks away from my house:
Red 1991 Mazda MX5 NA vs Red 1968 Fiat 124 Spider
Red 1991 Mazda MX5 NA vs Red 1968 Fiat 124 Spider

Which one would you choose? The 1968 Fiat 124 Spider or the 1991 Mazda MX5? Personally I would definitely go for the MX5 because of its reliability and (sorry to say!) the Fiat for its looks! I think the owner of these two cars had the same problem. ;)

Another red MX5:

Not much to say about this one… Was parked at house while I was on my way to work and I took a quick picture with my phonecam.

And unfortunately I ran out of red ones, so here is an orange NB to make it up:

Certainly good for you if you are in a Dutch soccer mood. :P

DOTS: S2000 hunting!

Ever since I started doing the Miata Hunting I always wondered why the Miata is so ubiquitous while I couldn’t find a single Honda S2000… For some reason I just didn’t spot them, up till three weeks ago when I spotted three S2000s within one week!

I must confess I already spotted this S2000, but since it was parked in a terrible spot (where you can hardly stop and shoot a picture) it took a while before I had the opportunity to make this shot:

Unfortunately the owner parked the car the wrong way around… :(

On my way back from where I shot the Suzuki Cervo SC100 I spotted this dark blue Honda S2000:

Since the owner was already sitting in the driver seat I reckoned he would be taking off soon. I grabbed my camera which still had a manual focus 135mm lens on it and tried to get the focus right as quickly as possible. The driver took off the minute I started to set the focus and I tried to get a lucky shot. I guess I spent all my luck on the SC100 that day: I managed to get three shots and the above is the best shot of those three…

The saturday after I got lucky again: while doing groceries I spotted this red S2000 AP1 in the same carpark as where I spotted a red Miata before:
DOTS: 2002 red Honda S2000
DOTS: 2002 red Honda S2000

It is an early model from 2002 and I used the door of the Carina as a tripod (actually the Carina would qualify as a quadpod! :P) to get a couple of nice shots. I liked this shot the best: as a nice touch it shows the front fender of the Carina in the foreground.

I don’t think the S2000 hunting will ever get a part two: in my experience the S2000 is about twelve times rarer than the Miata. With that in mind it would take me another 36 Miatas before I can post about the S2000 again. ;)

DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 8)

Even though I have collected plenty of Miatas already to fill up another three parts I still want to keep this Miata hunt to one single Silver Miata I spotted:
Silver Mazda Miata
Silver Mazda Miata

The Silver Miata was parked next to an small industral zone with some car shops. Since I spotted it on a Sunday I don’t reckon it was parked there by one of the shops and since I also just spotted earlier on some guys fixing up an old Celica on a driveway around the corner I suspect it is owned by one of them…

As you can see the Miata had a small bump on its nose but apart from that I must say this a nice looking Miata! It is not the looks I like, but rather the, I hate to say this word, stance of it. It has been dropped till the tires barely hit the fenders and, even though it does not have massive camber nor very wide wheels, it looks very nice this way! Only thing I would change were a bit wider wheels to fill the fenders to the max…

The Miata is owned by a member of the Dutch MX5 Club:

I did have a look on the MX5 Club forums, but I haven’t been able to track down the owner. Perhaps anyone around recognizes the car?

Japanese cherry blossoms in Holland

Last year I already noticed the trees next to the red Mazda Miata were Japanese cherry trees and I was hoping I could take a nice picture of the Miata with the cherry blossoms this spring. Unfortunately I only could take that picture:
Japanese cherry blossoms in Holland

As you can see: the Miata disappeared after the snow melted and a Vølvø S40 replaced it shortly afterwards. I was hoping it would return, but since the blossoms are almost dead already I really had to take this picture instead.

Dunno what happened to the red Miata. Maybe the owner got fed up with a convertible during winter time, had family expansion or even moved away. We’ll probably never know…

(btw: picture was taken with my new phonecam. Color quality is better than the crap cam, but the focus is terrible. I had to sharpen the picture twice to have as it is right now. So not a good replacement for the crapcam I guess!)
