Carina Sightings: my Carina within 5 years?

I was wondering if this white Toyota Carina TA60 I found on autoscout24 is actually my very own Carina within 5 years…

On this picture the car looks quite okay:
This Carina TA60 could be the brother of mine

But when looking more into the details it gets less beautiful:
Rust on the right front fender

And even worse:

And this view looks very very familiar:
Nice clean dashboard and a 5 speed gearbox

And even the interior is exactly the same as mine (but then a bit more worn):
Stained seats and dirty carpets

So it is a white Carina TA60 with white/black interior and the only difference between this one and my own are the 5 speed gearbox and the rusty spots… So the big question is: am I seeing the future here? 😉

Carina sightings: the famous Carina firevan part 3

By chance I stumbled upon a picture of the famous Carina firevan and by chance I looked if the source of the picture also had more pictures of the car.

Lucky enough the source did: it also featured a short video of the firevan starting its Beams 3SGE engine, so you can now listen to that orchestra of 4 trumpets!

The owner is playing some nice music! 😀

This picture is shot at the same meeting as the first picture of my first posting about the firevan. The pattern of the water is the same and probably the rain stopped after a while and things dried up after that. 😉

I have no idea why this picture was taken… Maybe these three pictures and video belong to a bigger set of pictures taken at a car meeting?

Carina Sightings: Carina AA63 Sedan on Suzuka

Yesterday I found this video of an AA63 sedan racing on Suzuka circuit (west course). The engine is probably almost bone stock with a few small modifications like an open airfilter.

He does a quite good run but then runs into some slower (probably pit out) Hakosuka Skylines and then gets passed by a very quick 280ZX. Quite fun to see him trying to chase the 280ZX for some time but then he gets engine trouble.

You can hear around 4:12 some metal sound in the engine note and the driver probably broke something in the engine. Also in the comments it states that the engine broke, but it doesn’t say exactly what broke. He then tails the Ken-meri and another Hakosuka Skyline and when he enters the pit lane he immediately leaves the track.

Carina Sightings: Carina AA63 4AGZE Supercharged Sedan

Some time ago I came across a gallery on photos.yahoo.co.jp with this very nice supercharged Carina GTR sedan:

Unfortunately there is not much info within this gallery, so we can only do guesswork here!

At least the car got a really nice old school Toyota decal on the bonnet! I still can’t understand why Toyota swapped this logo for the current one: it looks much better than the old one! (Of course I do know why… 😉 )

Nice lip! I still need to mount mine, so I hope mine will look just as great as this one! 😉

Great stance on this Carina AA63

The stance of this Carina is just perfect: lowered just enough with just enough camber on the front! (rear goes automatically with lowering)

The car is pretty beaten up so I recon it is being used/abused often:

And it is also very rusted:

I think this describes the state of the body pretty much.

But this makes everything right I guess:

4AGZE in the enginebay

The 4AGZE supercharger swap should be quite streightforward, just like on the AE86: supercharger flow is rerouted to the front and pushes the air through the front mounted intercooler.

There is no cage installed so it wasn’t used as a track or drift car, so this car should have seen a lot of action on the roads instead. Could be a touge drifter or maybe a drag racer?

Eventough this Carina is probably rusted through badly I would swap it for mine anytime! 😉

Carina Sightings: awful Toyota Carina Coupe TA60 in Norway

I found this awful Carina Coupe on Flickr. The owner (Long Gone Silver) put some really awful 16 inch bling rims under the coupe, some vinyl flame decal, double antennas, taxi blocks stripe and the most hideous chin and boot spoiler!

Funny thing is that I didn’t know some of the TA60 Coupes actually were delivered with independent rear suspension (IRS):

And, if I’m correct, there is a Carina station van in the background. 😉

It is sad to see such a waste… But then again, this car is in itself already a parody of itself. 😉
