Carina Sightings: Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 on wide steel rims

I stumbled upon this awesome red Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 on widened steel rims with stretched tires:

One of the differences between the Carina GT and GT-R was the lack of alloys, or better: cool looking steel rims that were too narrow (5.5J I think).

This GT-R swapped its alloys for the GT items instead:

I keep forgetting that when widened the steel rims also look awesome.
Also notice the flashlight creating a white pinstripe suggestion in the first photo. Perhaps I should do a similar black pinstripe to my Carina? A cool and simple touch that makes the car look way nicer!

WTF: Toyota AE86 trash!

An entire kei-truck is loaded with various AE86 parts like T50 transmissions, complete subframes, complete 4AGE engine blocks, valve covers, cams, camgear covers and many smaller bits and pieces. What a bloody waste: I think many of the AE86 enthusiasts could probably have used some of it…

Carina Sightings: Rare Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 at Nikko Circuit

This morning I opened up Feedly and to my surprise the number one article was about this Toyota Carina GT-R AA63 at Nikko Circuit:

Dino Dale Carbonare spotted it at the Black Mark Day at Nikko Circuit and it really is an awesome car. The car is mostly stock except for the lowering springs and slightly rolled fenders. The black painted Techno Phantoms really suit the original dark grey Carina paint.

I am a big fan of Dino’s photography and lucky enough I was treated by photos like this one:

Collections: LHD Toyota Sports 800

This Toyota Sports 800 was one of the highlights of the memory lane at the Dutch Toyota 50th anniversary last year. The car originates from Belgium and the owner is a Belgian Toyota dealer. He comforted me that he has enough parts to build another one.

Now you may wonder how it can be that this car is a left hand drive car. Did it get converted to left hand drive? No. This car is one of 300 that actually was built left hand drive by Toyota.

Even though toying with the idea to sell it in the US market Toyota actually only sold the Sports 800 in Japan. Continue reading
