WTF: AE86 N2 with a 4.5A-GE?

You probably are (very) well known with the 4A-GE, you may have heard from the 7A-GE or even heard from the 5A-GE. But a 4.5A-GE? Probably never!

To clarify some things: the 7A-GE is a 1.8 litre engine made by combining a 4A-GE head and a 7A-FE bottom. The 5A-GE is a 1.7 litre (1720cc) engine made by replacing the crank and conrods with a (HKS) stroker kit. Both engines increase the capacity compared to a normal 4A-GE but because of their longer stroke they are renowned to be slower in response…

The 4.5A-GE is a standard 4A-GE with oversized pistons (83mm instead of 81mm) bringing up the capacity to 1.7 litre (1675cc) and is just as responsive as the normal 4A-GE. RS YASU is renowned for doing this conversion and of course the engine in the picture above is their showcase!

And here is the monster that is powered by that engine:

Yum yum yum! Can’t wait to hear what that engine sounds like! :)

WTF: AE86 disco LED tail lights?

Probably already posted one hundred times before, but nevertheless some very interesting AE86 taillights:

I did see some ordinary led taillights for the AE86 before but these tail lights from Wataruworks are just insane! :D

In case you really want them, you can buy them from Wataruworks at Auctions Yahoo. (And use a company like Rinkya to get them handled and shipped!)
Lucky enough Wataruworks also sell normal looking led lights… ;)

WTF: Toyota Corona Super Roomy

After Yesterdays Lincoln Touge Car I remembered I came across something very different some time ago: a Corona T170 Super Roomy!

A what??

Well, basically it is a standard T170 Corona, but then lengthened in the middle:

And it still has got those cheap hubcaps on it… :(

Well, at least you can sit very comfortable on those velours seats with all that extra space:

Apparently from what I found was that Toyota introduced the Super Roomy to celebrate the sale of the 10 millionth Corona in 1990 and offered this 210mm stretched limo in a limited run of 500 cars.

I can’t imagine many people actually bought this Corona! The Corona wasn’t that big, luxurious and only the extra space may be a bit more comfortable… Looking at it it may have been good as a rental limo or a extra luxurious version of the Corona Taxi lineup, but for the “normal” people it would not have been an attractive car. However back in the early 90s Japanese were just buying anything that looked more luxurious than what the neighbour had on his driveway. As the source mentioned: The Corona was a limo that had the common touch, like the car was a symbol of the bubble period.
