Japanese rustoseums (part five)

Time for some more rust(oseums)!

Let’s start with this Toyota Mark II Grande GX81:
Beaten up Toyota Mark II Grande GX81

It might have been stolen and dumped in the middle of nowhere after they beaten up this Mark II enough… Bit of a shame though: it is the Mark II Grande model, so it is the top of the line model…

What about this Cedric Y31?

It looks like this hardtop model is still in perfectly good health! Just parked somewhere in the foliage and left there for ages… Or could it be that it was parked in an open space and the foliage just grew around it? :P

Now even if this 1970 or 1971 Nissan 521 is quite rusty, it may still be in use! Tires aren’t flat yet and judging from headrest on the driver seat it must have been replaced some time ago. It is clear that the model is the 521 since the grille has the four horizontal bars. This did not feature on the 520 models, but only on the 521 model.

All three pictures were taken from the usual place:
?????? (life doodling)

Japanese rustoseums (part four)

It is time for some more rustoseums! :)

Let’s start with this four door Nissan Skyline sedan:

As you can see it must have had some really big fender extenders which now have been removed. Would that mean the fender extenders were considered more expensive than the Skyline?

What about a nice Toyota Mark II X7 wagon with some plants on it?

Is it actually going to be used as a flowerbed? Or did the owner intend it to grow into a Crown MS120 wagon?

Somehow I always smile when I see these third generation Honda Accords:

The front of the car really resembles the Trueno. Of course the bumper is a bit different, but it is styled closer to a Trueno than the Silvia S12! Sad to see this example without its eyes…

A really (c)rusty Corolla KE30:

And it has got the great looking hubcaps!

Personally I thought this was a first generation Cedric 130, but the poster of the picture says it is actually a Isuzu Bellet sedan:

Bellet sedan? Were those actually made??

DOTS: Rusty 1980 Honda Civic Mk. 2

Time for another Down On The Street edition!

It is funny how you keep finding more and more old Japanese cars when you start looking for them and get an eye for them. I found this 1980 Honda Civic Mk. 2 during one of the cycling tours I’m doing with my two year old son.

From far away I already spotted the big dent in the left rear door.

When I got closer I spotted some rust on the hatch…

And when I passed it I spotted even more rust on the whole front section of the car!

So I turned around, grabbed my camera and took some photos of this Japanese rustoseum!

This is how bad the hatch actually is!

And at the other corner of the rear window you can almost force your hand inside if you want to!

And the headlight doesn’t look much better than the hatch! Weird enough the chrome surrounding outlived the hood! I really don’t want to know the amount of electrical problems with this car, you can just imagine the amount of water gushing in the headlight when driven through rain!

Funny enough the interior looked really good compared to the outside of the car!

The car itself has still got MOT till the end of November. I don’t think it will pass the tests anymore unless someone really does a lot of work to it. For MOT it will definitely need a replacement rear door and if you want to keep the car in decent state it needs a new hatch, hood and some welding to the sills.

And as you can see this is the Hondamatic version of the Mk. 2 Civic. Since this car is the early 1980 model it is certainly powered by the only choice of engine: a 1.3 liter EJ engine (68hp), coupled with a two speed automatic. Back then a powerful engine: my ageing 2T is only capable of doing 75hp with its 1.6 liter displacement!

All in all I consider this an unique find! Never seen that much rust on a MOT-ed car!

Japanese rustoseums (part three)

As promised: this time a Japanese rustoseums without a Toyota. Well, actually it is a one car only episode! ;)

As you can see: a terribly rusted Nissan Skyline C210 wagon!

You can almost see through its door without using the window! ;)

And what would you see then? A bunch of crap piled up inside!

Imagine the potential of this car! Just like the infamous Carina firevan you can put a mighty engine in there, lower it to ground scraping heights! Or just put in the L20ET engine from the 2000GT-EX turbo and you would certainly have the coolest Skyline Japan sleeper of them all!

Too bad this example is too rusted for all that: even the hood has crumbled away enough to give us a glance of the engine in there. Most probably a L16T as fitted in the 1600TI together with a lot of foliage!

Carina Sightings: Carina AA63 4AGZE Supercharged Sedan

Some time ago I came across a gallery on photos.yahoo.co.jp with this very nice supercharged Carina GTR sedan:
Carina AA63 4AGZE Supercharged Sedan
Carina AA63 4AGZE Supercharged Sedan

Unfortunately there is not much info within this gallery, so we can only do guesswork here!

At least the car got a really nice old school Toyota decal on the bonnet! I still can’t understand why Toyota swapped this logo for the current one: it looks much better than the old one! (Of course I do know why… ;) )

Nice lip! I still need to mount mine, so I hope mine will look just as great as this one! ;)

Great stance on this Carina AA63

The stance of this Carina is just perfect: lowered just enough with just enough camber on the front! (rear goes automatically with lowering)

The car is pretty beaten up so I recon it is being used/abused often:

And it is also very rusted:

I think this describes the state of the body pretty much.

But this makes everything right I guess:
4AGZE in the enginebay of a Carina AA63
4AGZE in the enginebay

The 4AGZE supercharger swap should be quite streightforward, just like on the AE86: supercharger flow is rerouted to the front and pushes the air through the front mounted intercooler.

There is no cage installed so it wasn’t used as a track or drift car, so this car should have seen a lot of action on the roads instead. Could be a touge drifter or maybe a drag racer?

Eventough this Carina is probably rusted through badly I would swap it for mine anytime! ;)

Carina Sightings: Sorry looking TA60 Carina Part #2

Remember this Carina?

I blogged about it more than half a year ago: Sorry looking TA60 Carina

Well, I found some more pictures of that Carina:

Would that guy on the background also be the owner?

Interior still looks pretty decent

In my previous post I thought most of it was gone, but apparently not much more than the centrecap of the steeringwheel and some minor details are missing.

Carina TA60 with RUST!!
Carina TA60 with RUST!!

I see a lot of rust! Even the airbox is rusted!

At least we get some more info on the car. What I understand (my Norwegian isn’t that good!) is that the car has a 2T with a 5 speed. It drove more than 330000km and the chairs are pretty much gone, hence the seatcovers…

The front bumper is a modified 1994 Carina E bumper. Of course the Carina E bumper is a few centimeters too wide and to fit it properly they widened the front fenders a bit! :o

You can find more about this Carina here and here.
