DOTS: Nissan 200SX S14 in fall (part II)

Last week I realized I haven’t posted about the Nissan 200SX S14 rustoseum since the end of March. Would it still be there?
Yes it is still there:

It is only the beginning of fall, so not many leafs are on it yet…

But the low sun gives a great opportunity to shoot pictures like this:

A bit dark and gloomy looking S14! ;)

Summer didn’t do the car much good either, just take a look at this:

It is not only birdcrap that is on there, there is also mold on the steeringwheel. You will have to focus on the top of the steeringwheel to actually see it… I’ll take my manual lenses with me next time to be able to capture the mold better.

Also the left mirror has been smashed now:

That means the same thing as with the Legend: things will only get worse from now on. :(

I’ll see if I can shoot some pictures of the car covered in leafs upcoming weeks. Would be cool to compare with last years picture. :P

DOTS: 200SX S12, Starion and Soarer

Two months ago I posted some older Down on the Street by me from a period where I didn’t even have a proper digicam yet. So, here are some more beautiful cars taken on a crappy phonecam!

Let’s start with this nice S12:
Down on the Street: Nissan 200SX S12
Down on the Street: Nissan 200SX S12

The Silvia S12 was called the 200SX in the US and even though this car has the “normal” CA18ET under its hood it is still badged as the 200SX. ;)
Back then the owner of this car lived in the center of Amsterdam and took the habit of parking it close to my house (waiting time for a parking license in Amsterdam is about 3 to 4 years!) so I saw it many many times. According to the RDW this car no longer exists in the Netherlands…

How about a non-widebody Starion then?
Down on the Street: Mitsubishi Starion
Down on the Street: Mitsubishi Starion

Owned by the same person who owned the Starion widebody and disappeared a few days after I took the picture. It is no longer registered on the Dutch roads, so I don’t have to guess what happened to it…

This Soarer parked in front of my house was a nice surprise after a long day of work:
Down on the Street: Toyota Soarer JZZ31
Down on the Street: Toyota Soarer JZZ31

Back then I still had my AE86 so within 20 meters apart there were an AE86, a Starion widebody and a Soarer! Too bad they were not directly parked next to each other…

Ten minutes after I took this picture the Soarer left. Engine sounded like a non turbo 6 cylinder engine, so most definitely a JZZ31 with a 2JZ-GE. Only the badge makes it a Toyota Soarer and not a Lexus SC300, the rest of it is identical. However I still like the idea of seeing a real Soarer! ;)

Japanese rustoseums (part nine)

It has been some time since I posted the last rustoseum, so here are some more! What about this poor GA61 Celica XX? It already looks way beyond reasonable repairs:
Toyota Celica XX GA61 Rustoseum
Toyota Celica XX GA61 Rustoseum

It was supposed to be the flagship of the Celcia XX range… What happened? Did the owner think it got out of fashion? At least the 15 inch 6J Celica XX rims look salvageable…

How about this Silvia S13 in the foliage then?

Nissan Silvia S13 Rustoseum

Sure enough its headlights were stripped, but apart from that it still looks quite complete… Maybe still salvageable?

And the last one, a (former) white MR2:

It still looks okay and complete: not too much rust. Now is that picture playing tricks with me or does the car next to it have some bosozoku exhaust pipes??

Oops I did it again: Datsun Coupe CSP311 catalogue

Yes, I did it again:
Datsun Coupe 1600 CSP311
Datsun Coupe 1600 CSP311

It was available for a mere very low price and I just had to buy it! If I keep up this rate the amount of Nissan books/catalogues will surpass the amount of Toyota catalogues! And that’s bad for a Toyotaku! ;) (Well, actually I think I like both just as much!)

Datsun Coupe 1600 CSP311
Datsun Coupe 1600 CSP311

I think the photography of this particular catalogue is extremely nice! It was, of course, done in the “proper” 60s fashion with older Kodachrome colors! Anyone got an idea how to reproduce such colors nowadays?

My best guess is that this catalogue is Australian or from New Zealand since the CSP311 never made it to the US or Europe… I wonder how it ended up in the Netherlands though. :)

DOTS winter edition: Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow!

Two days ago it started snowing in the Netherlands, so of course I had to take pictures of some of the cars I covered before. I had to wait till yesterday before I could make some pictures of the Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow.
Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow!
Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow!

Funny how this S14 turns out to have the looks of a S14a when covered in snow! The headlights are now less round and appear to be sloping up a bit!

I couldn’t tell anything about the state of the car since it was covered in snow. But I don’t think these few inches of snow will do any good to the uncovered parts.

I also decided not to try to get hold of the car: I don’t think another project will do me any good. ;)

Tomorrow we have *another* DOTS winter edition with a few snow covered Miatas!
