DOTS: 1984 Brown Nissan Laurel C31

No it’s color is not brown because of the rust on it. Even though it does have some rusty spots, this Laurel is still in a fairly good condition. Only on the left side it does need some attention to its doors.

I spotted it around the corner from where I work. Never saw it before at that spot but I did spot the Laurel a few times around town.

This particular Laurel is one of the last C31s sold in the Netherlands (replaced by the C32 in 1984) and it features the trusty 2.4 liter L24 propelling the brown Apollo to amazing speeds with 130ps.

Japanese rustoseums (part twenty)

The first thing I thought when I saw this pigsbutt (butaketsu) Laurel SGX was that it had developed a rusty (coin) slot:

Its rear end is completely rusted through and, apart from the interior, the rest of the car doesn’t look much better either…
Still it is not way beyond repair: its new owner is going to restore it in full glory! :)
(BTW: it is not advisable to lookup “rusty slot”! :P )

Need car guidance? Nissan Laurel C32 Medialist

In a previous Car Guidance you were guided for the Nissan Skyline R31, so how about its sister car the Nissan Laurel Medialist?

This Laurel C32 Medialist basically is the same as the Skyline R31: it has got the same floorpan, the same hardtop (designer was the same guy), the same weird folding rear power windows, got the same RB20 engine (this C32 doesn’t have the twin cam head though) but is a bit more luxurious on the inside: it has a steering wheel with more buttons than on a modern car, the double DIN car stereo looks like it consumes more amps than a boombox, the digital dashboard mimics the Knight 2000. Compare that luxury to my two year older (plain) Carina!

Now if only I could get one here in Holland… :(
(btw: I do know one in Holland but it is not for sale…)

Drag racing Nissan Laurel C230 and Bluebird 610

I’m not a big fan of drag racing but I can really appreciate drag racing beauties like the Laurel and Bluebirds in this video:

Apart from the 16 inch RS Watanabes this Laurel C230 doesn’t look too unusual. However when it does its run within 12.299 seconds that may be called quite respectable! The Bluebird 610 manages to do a 13.201! Not bad for 30 to 35 year old J-tin!
