Hilarious: car usage in Tokusatsu

As I said yesterday: I was browsing Tokusatsu videos on Youtube to make my Hilarious posting this week. My idea was to see how cars were actually used through these series. Of course I mean recognizable cars and not the Bosozoku styled super-heroes cars.

First of all I found this intro of the 1988 Choujuu Sentai Liveman series:
At 0:30 the first hero drives a white Mazda FC convertible.
A poor student at Academia, but a strong leader and quick thinking under pressure. He is brave and a hardworker. Initially starts as hot-headed and sarcastic, but grows into the role of dependable leader as the series progresses.
Could this have been the inspiration for Shuichi Shigeno for Ryosuke Takahashi in Initial D? Only difference is that Ryosuke is not a poor student but rather a rich student taking a break during his study…

Then take the intro of the 1986 Choushinsei Flashman series:

The red Flashman is a professional racing driver. To be more precise: he drives the number 170 Mazda 757. It must somehow be true that he did was the driver because number 170 did not finish Le Mans 1986. Probably one of the villains must have wanted to sabotage Le Mans 1986 and in order to prevent this red Flashman must have abandoned the race. ;)

And in the last (but not least) example the 1984 Birth of the 10th! Kamen Riders All Together!! series:

The blue Kamen Rider drives a Mazda HB Cosmo (a.k.a. the Mazda 929 overseas) like he’s doing audition for the first movie of the the Shuto Kousoku series (a.k.a. Shuto Trial or Freeway Speedway).

Somehow I see a pattern in these intros: Toei and Mazda! Coincidence? No, I don’t think so…

Hilarious: extemely highered Bosozoku style car

Yesterday I already wrote about Bosozokustyle.com, so I thought today’s Hilarious posting should definitely be about the Bosozoku style! :P

Well, apart from the exhaust Champion picture I posted in the the Bosozoku Carina Sightings there was also another interesting car on that very same meeting:

According to the poster this meeting should be held by the Tan Family which is a former motorcycle gang.

Here you can see it in action:

When I saw the car first I thought it would most probably have, apart from the obvious speedbump trouble, a cornering problem. Looks like the guy did a good job and changed the caster of the front wheels to match the highered rear end.

And I can’t get enough of it:

In case you’re wondering what car this used to be: it took me some time to figure out but it is a facelifted JDM Toyota Crown MS110.

Simply hilarious! :D

Hilarious: Masato Shimon complete collection

Masato Shimon is a singer who sung a lot of intros for Japanese movie and tv-series during the 60s, 70s and 80s. Someone decided that it would be a very good idea to actually collect all of them, glue them together and put them on Youtube.

At first I thought it was a very nice thing to do, but shortly after I started with the first movie I came to the conclusion that the guy did a lot of Tokusatu (read: Power Rangers like action heroes), starting with the Kamen Rider. After seeing the third movie intro for Kamen Rider (after seeing all the tv series in between) it became hilarious! :D

Collection #1: The Kamen Rider collection:

One funny thought came up to me: During the early 70s, after Kamen Rider was aired, the B?s?zoku started dressing up their motorbikes like the one Kamen Rider drives. Motorcycle gangs imitating a righteous cruisader! Now that’s funny!

Collection #2: Early anime (ninja, baseball, etc.)and some more Tokusatu:

I love the special effects of the Ultraman intro. Especially the part with the parachuted godzilla-like monster!
Anyone got an idea what the apes are about?? :?

Collection #3: Kungfu, anime and more Tokusatu:

I like the English version of Ultra Seven! :D
And the last one with the helicopter coming out of the head is simply hilarious!!

Had enough? :P

Hilarious: Densha de D (Initial D with trains)

A couple of months ago I was browsing through a page which mentioned several Initial D spoofs (dojinshi) and one of them was Densha de D. I found a video on Youtube which shows the first chapter with some wellknown music under it:

Densha de Go is a famous game which is a train simulator, so basically Initial D is the drift simulator equivalent. Like you can use a steering wheel to control your drifts with Initial D you can use a train lever with Densha de Go to control your train! ;)

As you by now have read the manga is about train drivers who compete with each other. Takumi is driving a very old train and beats the modern train driven by Keisuke. In the end you can also see who drives which trains in the following episodes, and believe me: they fit very well!!

Some train freaks (Densha otaku?) re-created the Densha de D on their model trains:

Funny that is is quite possible with some practice. :)

Hilarious: The Checkers (???????) namidano rekuesuto

Not that I’m a big fan of The Checkers (???????), but I came ac across them on Last.fm with the song Electronic Dreams which is absolutely horrible. So actually I was looking for that video instead.

However I did come across their music video of Namidano Rekuesuto (also known as Namida no Request):

If you can’t watch the video, here is it located on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-FbNj_lSmU

As you can see this is definitely a more horrible 80s video then

Hilarious: Last Christmas covers

Since it’s Christmas the hilarious posting should be Christmas related as well. ;)

It all started out with the Christmas wishes from JNC blog:

Oh man! This is corny!! All the boyband stuff!! And the worse is that we all know what they are singing!

Then I clicked through on related items and found this:

Crazy Frog!! Aaargh! I can’t believe anyone still thinks he’s funny!!

So I clicked quickly to the next related item:

“yoyo… yes i did!” :D :D

And when I thought it couldn’t get any better I found this one:

@2:20: “Merry christmas HO HO HO!”
They girl can’t sing (see @2:50) and the guys are trying to immitate Snoop Dogg with a very bad Engrish accent. ;)

Merry Christmas!! :P
