This Charade TS Daimatic (Daihatsu and Automatic together? Just like Hondamatic?) may not be en-par with the Detomasso but it certainly wished to look like one with its chicken-fence grille and aftermarket exhaust!

When cycling to work I spotted the rear end of a Carina on a (closed) parking lot of an office building on the other side of the parking lot of the local fire department. I stopped and a fireman opened up the window asking if I was able to find whatever I was looking for.
So I explained I spotted exactly the same car as mine in the parking lot behind the fire department. He told me how to get there and I made a few snaps with the ancient phone I’m currently using (my own got stolen last week during a break-in). I also made one with my old analogue camera, but I’m still waiting for the black and white film developer chemicals so I can’t show it to you yet…
The Carina was registered in 1983 as a beige car. It looked quite solid to me, didn’t have too much rust (except on the steel rims) and believe it or not: it is, just like mine, an automatic as well. Only big difference is that this car is a GL, so it features a more comfortable interior. ;)
Now this Miata is a bit of everything: it is yellow, white and blue, it is imported brand new and it has quite a lot of rust!

Originally imported in 1990 as a Miata and registered as white. Apparently the owner (or previous owner) resprayed it yellow but did not bother to change the registration. Then the sunroof got replaced by a blue hardtop.
From the backside you can see that it is gathering quite some rust:

Perhaps a small accident at the rear and that’s why there is also a panel missing?
Last week I finally was able to make some pictures of this Honda CRX Del Sol:

It is parked around the corner of my mothers place, but either I didn’t have my camera with me or it was parked in a difficult spot. This time I decided to make use of the phonecam on my Desire and see how bad it could get. The picture quality marginally made it and I decided not to pursue the CRX anymore…
The rims used are actually quite nice and fit the styling of this CRX:

They are Lenso BSX (BBS knock offs).
First thing that got me surprised was the badge on the side of the CRX:

SOHC Vtec? Yes it exists and it’s D16Z6 is actually just as powerful as with a SOHC as the 16 valve 4AGE with DOHC! Pretty impressive!

A few days back I spotted this black 2009 Mazda MX5 NC on the parkinglot next to my local supermarket:

Imagine when you go visit a friends party and you spot this Mazda 626 hardtop coupe parked on the parkinglot near the house:

So we went inside and enjoyed the party. Only after two hours my wife found out the Mazda was actually owned by one of the people at the party!
The owner inherited the 626 hardtop coupe from his mother, drives it ever since and even became a member of the Dutch 626 club this year. He doesn’t need the car as a daily driver and the car is parked safely in a parking under the building he lives in. He even took it the car all the way to Hammerfest in Norway! Nice to meet someone liking the old Japanese cars as well!
