Carina Sightings: Blue Carina Sedan

Apart from its color, this Carina Sedan looks really blue:

You can see the paint is already blistering and fading away. In my opinion it looks like a bad respray done 15 to 20 years ago…

It sits on its original rims and it has AC, power windows and power steering as luxury options. It still has its original 4A-GE with only 159000 kilometers on its odometer, so that engine should still be purring like a kitten!

It may not sound much, but you can’t complain for a car that is for sale at Auctions Yahoo and has a current bid of only $500! Even better: it has a buy me now option of only $1600! The auction will end in about 5 hours, so if you are quick you can just get it for $501! 😉

You can find its auction here: Blue Carina GT-R AA63 on Auctions Yahoo

Carina Sightings: Portuguese Carina TA60 sedan

I was browsing the Portuguese car sale portal Standvirtual and searched for interesting cars and found this very good looking Toyota Carina TA60 sedan:

Basically the same as mine, but what caught my eye was the asking price for this car: only 550 euros!

Minor dent above the exhaust, but it’s bootlid appears to be rust free…

…and from the side it also appears to be rust free, so it can’t be rust!

Interior looks as good as mine…

…and also has the three point seatbelts on the rear seats!

And the doors are also as rust free as mine… The car has 80000 kilometers on the odometer, so that’s roughly the same as mine… And I don’t think the price includes the dog…

So, you may ask why is this car this cheap then? It is simple: the car is an unwanted car! It is not a Celica or the sporty Corollas (TE71 or AE86) and AFAIK Portugal has no legislation for 25 year old cars like The Netherlands has. Basically it is considered an old clunker… The car has no papers! 😉
Thanks to Santos for the correction!

Now, who can chip in for a one way ticket to Lissabon?? 😉

Carina Sightings: the Carina Sheriff is for sale!

Do not worry about getting caught by the Carina Sheriff: apparently the Sheriff resigned and put it for sale!

So this can be yours for a mere 350 euros:

It has comfortable bucket seats too:

The handle near the dashboard is to lock the adjustable steering wheel (only up and down).

For that price the car is a bargain, even as spares car. Too bad my shed is already full of spares… Anyone else interested in the Sheriff?

Carina sightings: beware of the Carina Sheriff!

Beware of the Carina Sheriff:

I couldn’t stop laughing when I watched this video yesterday: my coffee almost came back through my nose! It is amazing what they did to that poor Carina! 😉

So now we have a Carina Firevan, a Carina policecar and a Carina Sheriff car. What’s next? A Carina ambulance? ( ???)???????????? ? / ?/ ?

The Carina is most probably a Carina TA60 sedan from Portugal: the uploader of this video is from Portugal and I do see a white hachi-roku in the background (Portugal is a hachi country).

Carina Sightings: Carina AA63 Sedan on Suzuka

Yesterday I found this video of an AA63 sedan racing on Suzuka circuit (west course). The engine is probably almost bone stock with a few small modifications like an open airfilter.

He does a quite good run but then runs into some slower (probably pit out) Hakosuka Skylines and then gets passed by a very quick 280ZX. Quite fun to see him trying to chase the 280ZX for some time but then he gets engine trouble.

You can hear around 4:12 some metal sound in the engine note and the driver probably broke something in the engine. Also in the comments it states that the engine broke, but it doesn’t say exactly what broke. He then tails the Ken-meri and another Hakosuka Skyline and when he enters the pit lane he immediately leaves the track.

Carina Sightings: Carina AA63 4AGZE Supercharged Sedan

Some time ago I came across a gallery on photos.yahoo.co.jp with this very nice supercharged Carina GTR sedan:

Unfortunately there is not much info within this gallery, so we can only do guesswork here!

At least the car got a really nice old school Toyota decal on the bonnet! I still can’t understand why Toyota swapped this logo for the current one: it looks much better than the old one! (Of course I do know why… 😉 )

Nice lip! I still need to mount mine, so I hope mine will look just as great as this one! 😉

Great stance on this Carina AA63

The stance of this Carina is just perfect: lowered just enough with just enough camber on the front! (rear goes automatically with lowering)

The car is pretty beaten up so I recon it is being used/abused often:

And it is also very rusted:

I think this describes the state of the body pretty much.

But this makes everything right I guess:
4AGZE in the enginebay of a Carina AA63
4AGZE in the enginebay

The 4AGZE supercharger swap should be quite streightforward, just like on the AE86: supercharger flow is rerouted to the front and pushes the air through the front mounted intercooler.

There is no cage installed so it wasn’t used as a track or drift car, so this car should have seen a lot of action on the roads instead. Could be a touge drifter or maybe a drag racer?

Eventough this Carina is probably rusted through badly I would swap it for mine anytime! 😉
