Family Album Treasures: bling-bling Laurel

Bling on your car wasn’t invented by the hip-hop culture, no the Aoyama Jokers were the one who embraced it first in the late 80s!

This Laurel SGL C230 has been modified with homemade stainless steel headlight covers, hoodfins and a front air dam and its owner poses proudly next to it. Definitely something I’d keep in my family album. ;)

Family Album Treasures: Meri sauvignon Skyline 2000GT

Now this is a blaze from the past! The origin of the kaido racers had its roots in copying the style used in the 70s and 80s Grand Championships on Fuji Speedway and its styling was called Grachan. Headlight covers, widened fenders, hood air ducts and pink/gold number on the door.

I love this little piece of comment in the original blog:
When people could not stand Yonmeri.
I would be proud of having made such an early adopter of the Grachan styling, so definitely something to keep in the family album!

Family Album Treasures: Jokers Mazda Cosmo AP

Of course I would be proud if I would own a Mazda Cosmo AP with 13b rotary engine in the eighties!

This particular Cosmo AP was owned by one of the members of the Aoyama Jokers and later on this car became one of the most iconic bosozoku styled Cosmo APs known. He swapped the headlights for a set of square headlights and was so fond of it he stood on top of his pride! Definitely something to add to the family album and keep it for future generations!

Family Album Treasures: Jokers Yonmeri Skyline GC110

This particular Yonmeri Skyline was actually owned by one of the members of the Aoyama Jokers (one of the most notorious Bosozoku gangs in the 70s and 80s) and modified in what we call Kyusha Kai nowadays.

The car features a set of 9J wide Volk Mesh rims.
Of course this picture was taken near the beach/shore and the owner stands casually next to his pride and joy. Definitely worth adding such a photo to your family album!
