This 1987 US Nissan commercial was posted by Reich and it clearly illustrates why cars and Flashdance don’t match:
WTF were the Nissan executives thinking in the 80s? Apart from the fact that flashdance and cars don’t match it is also weird to have such a commercial in the late 80s when flashdance was clearly out of fashion. Now if they would have come up with the Lambada it might actually have caught the attention of the teenagers. 😉

Apparently Australian robots favor the 1985 Corolla FX above hovering two feet above the ground:
Now if that isn’t a selling point! 😀
I love these old JDM Toyota Chaser ads from the early 80s! Something about them makes them really 80s. Maybe the Chaser chime they use?
Especially this chime reminds me of the Sega chime. 😀
The background tune is Please Please Me by the Beatles and it suits this SG Tourer model very well! BTW: the SG Tourer is a 1G-EU powered GX61, so not the more sporty 1G-GEU model.
How about some sporty action from this 5M-GTEU powered MX63 then? Of course the commercial screams (and chimes) the word Turbo all over it! And a happy birthday to you as well!
Or fancy a bit more quiet hardtop sedan then?
Back in the 70s Mitsubishis best selling car was the Galant. About every model in their lineup was a Galant: Galant Lambda, Galant Sigma, Galant FTO and lets not forget the 1970 Galant GTO!
The commercial has excellent styling and jazzy music. The Hip up coupé sounds catchy and it is extra newwwwww!!!
This Nissan cinema advertisement from 1980 should have no comments at all: the tiny dust cloud tells you everything!
I was re-reading some of the old magazines and in a volume of Practical Classics from a few years ago they were featuring the Honda Quintet, aka the Honda Quint in Japan. So of course I started looking for old commercials of the Quint and Quintet:
Wow! What a cheesy 80s synthesizer tune! And look at those special effects!
The Honda Quint was literally filling the gap between the Honda Civic and the Honda Accord: the car is a lengthened Civic with a mix of Civic and Accord bodypanels, and most importantly: the Accord 1.6 cvcc engine!
It is also funny to see where the Honda Integra started from: the 1985 Integra was initally lauched as the Honda Quint Integra in Japan!
