Popular Bosozoku cars: Nissan Fairlady S30 part 2

Some time ago we did a feature on the bosozoku style Nissan Fairlady Z S30. This week we feature a video with Daijiro Inada looking at the Nissan Fairlady Z S30 (and its successors) including a very nice bosozoku styled version of a Grand Champion Fairlady Z copy by Daisuke Shouten!

Part one:

Very funny to see Nomuken making the mistake of how to start a carburetted car: he wants to start the Fairlady by turning the ignition key. Lucky enough they show him how it is done properly. Funny enough: Daijiro Inada can’t drift, but surely he can start a carburetted car properly! :D

Part two:

Note that this bosozoku styled Fairlady Z has the rear lights of a Skyline C210 Japan and a (badly fit) G-nose. In my opinions this is one of the best looking bosozoku styled Fairlady Zs I’ve seen so far!

I posted this article earlier this week on Bosozokustyle.com

Carina Sightings: almost mint Carina TA63 GT-TR

It was already a long time ago that I came across this very very very very good preserved Carina TA63 Coupe shot by the Flickr user pigs.of.darkness:
Very good looking Carina Coupe TA63
Very good looking Carina Coupe TA63

It looks like it just rolled out of the factory a few days ago and the owner slapped on a set of SSR Longchamp XR4 at the rear and a set of 2 piece Watanabe RS F817 rims at the front! Then thought a lip would finish off its 80s looks!

At the rear you can spot a very very tiny dent next to the trunklid, so that actually gives away that the car is not brand new anymore.

Just look at how beautiful the paint still is: it reflects the van next to it perfectly!

Anyone familiar with Pixel Car Life?

I just stumbled across it tonight while searching for something else. Reading the description (Official Pixel Car Role Playing Game) kind of made me almost click away, but since I played forum based role playing games in the past it made me curious and I started reading the introduction. From what I understand it is a car related role playing game which actually is quite well balanced.

I tried to register, but unfortunately they don’t accept new members anymore. So that’s why I’m asking: anyone familiar with Pixel Car Life?

Tiresome: Ken Block in Top Gear

To quote Jalopnik:
Did you miss Gymkhana sensei Ken Block take James May for a spin a few hundred spins on last night’s episode of Top Gear? No need to cry. We’ve scoured the interwebs and found the clip for ya!

Well, I did miss it and I’m not really happy I watched it… I’m getting a bit tired of the pre setup, staged, slowmotion videos of Mr. Block.

Don’t get me wrong here: I think he’s one of the best and talented drivers on this whole planet and he’s awesome when he takes tight corners and spaces with his Scooby! You can almost consider him as one with his car!

However…as you can see in the Top Gear clip this whole round is staged and set up beforehand. All cameras are perfectly in place and several shots are taken multiple times (see differences in tiretracks, skidmarks and smoke) and especially the finale jump is one big show setup. Must have taken them several runs to get that one right… Well, at least they flattened the ramps each time. ;)

Of course there was one run with James May and all his comments and reactions are genuine, but it is very obvious this is another arranged Ken Block video, just like the previous two… And that’s what what bores me…

There I fixed it: pringles FJ cruiser

I found a new hilarious site called there I fixed it showing bizarre ingenious everyday fixes. One of them was a Toyota FJ cruiser engine fixed with a can of pringles:
Pringles powered?
Pringles powered?

Damn!! I did some dirty fixes on my cars in the past, but using a can of pringles to repair your air intake?? Well, hopefully this was only a temporarily outback fix and not a fix for your daily driver! :D
I would certainly use a can of Pringles to fix my air intake if I were stuck in the outback!

Carina Sightings: Joe Manji event in New Zealand

I read a blog posting last night at 86fighters about the Joe Manji event in New Zealand. Part II followed up later on and both parts feature Carinas. :)

First Carina is probably an AA63TA63 with the 4AGE 3T-GTE engine. Its front bumper got replaced for an AE92 front bumper:

The second Carina is a well known TA63 Carina with a 1UZ engine swap and a great history:

The owner (Glenn) did a great job on that Carina! As you can see the 1UZ engine is a great engine to put in a Carina! Unfortunately they are very very hard to get in Europe. :(

Update: A video got posted on Youtube:

That Carina is now a very sick car! And that 1UZ sounds brutal!
Great! Now I really want a 1UZ in mine! :(
