WTF: Hotwheels Skyline KPGC110 GT-R Christmas bargain

Yesterday I was doing my Christmas shopping (actually us Dutch celebrate Sinterklaas) and had to buy some wrapping paper in a bargain store called Blokker. My eye fell on the bargain Hotwheels sale and couldn’t resist going through the bin. My heart skipped a few beats when I found the beautiful 2011 edition Skyline GT-R KPGC110:

For a bargain price of only 1.99 euros! That’s less than 3 dollars. WTF?! Lucky! Bargain!
So I dug deeper and found three more KPGC110s and a few others! (more on that later in this post) Unfortunately no hakosuka Nissan Skyline 2000GT-X or BRE Datsun 510 Bluebird. :(

In the end I bought two KPGC110s, one for my son and one for me (at work): Continue reading

Family Album Treasures: fishy Mark II GSL

Normally fishermen pose with their catch next to the boat they used to catch it, so would these two guys have used their Toyota Mark II GSL for that purpose?
Toyota Mark II GSL RX22
No I don’t think so: they must have caught their fish on a pier or something and then posed in front the rear-end of the Mark II. Definitely worth sticking this photo into the family album. ;)

Took me a while to figure out what model it is, but apparently it is a Mark II GSL hardtop coupe RX22 with the double carbed R18-B. It is a very beautiful car and probably impossible to find outside Japan. Also note the fifth generation Corona T100 and first generation Celica in the background!

Carina Sightings: immaculate Carina GT Turbo TA63

Okay the owner/uploader’s name might be a bit confusing, but skyline2000gtexturbo is really enjoying his Carina GT Turbo very much. So much he posted a couple of videos to Youtube!

First of all, the introduction of the Carina:

What else could you add to a zenki Carina GT Turbo TA63 than a set of RS Watanabe rims? Well, they are only up front and unfortunately the rear features a set of the well known Toyota Snowflakes.

So how does it drive then? Continue reading

Car feature: Bulgarian Galant Sigma Hardtop CS Extra

Dido posted a comment under a post I wrote about the Mitsubishi Galant Sigma that he owns one. So I followed the links and found his Facebook page which is scattered with images of his pride and joy:
Bulgarian Misubishi Galant Sigma Hardtop CS Extra
Naturally it is an import, but it is actually no one else than the Japanese Ambassador who brought it to Bulgaria! But the previous owners thought it was junk and did no maintenance on it and left it for four years in a field. That’s when Dido bought the car.

It is just amazing how much switchgear you can mount in a car: Continue reading

Hilarious: Bassie en Adriaan movie trailer

In yesterdays post I touched the subject Bassie en Adriaan already a bit and while searching through all intros to find the correct Prelude (in which I failed) I stumbled upon this alternative movie trailer for the Bassie en Adriaan en de verdwenen kroon (Bassie and Adriaan and the disappeared crown) which is brilliantly done!

No it is not a Toyota Crown that disappears, but actually a genuine crown. ;)
In this trailer you will see the bad guys drive a Lancia Thema, the Dutch police pull a Volvo 340 sideways (yes, they really drove them in the 80s!) and see Adriaan do a batman like U-turn in the Honda Prelude!
