Repost: 30 years of Tamiya R/C cars

Now this is probably the coolest Tamiya poster I’ve ever seen:
30 years of Tamiya R/C cars
30 years of Tamiya R/C cars

This poster from 2006 covers the most important models by Tamiya in their 30 years of radio controlled cars. It starts with the Porsche 934 Turbo RSR Now on the top left and you can see many nice JDM models in there: next to the 934 a Group 5 Celica Celica liftback A28, in the mid left a Group 5 Nissan Fairlady S30 240Z, a Honda City Turbo, some Skyline R32s in the mid right and a Supra JZA80 at the right bottom. Can you spot some more great models I missed?

Found at Jalopnik via Burst sausages via Save the Enzos via ac75d’s photostream @ Flickr (can it even get reposted more than this? :o )

Carina sightings: diffin Carina GT-R AA63

Those British and Irish laddies never get enough of diffin those JDM cars:

The Carina is still on its original springs and that shows at the front when doing donuts. Also notice how nice a Carina looks on those Hayashi Streets!

The comment by the video poster is fat gut, slow car. Maybe true compared to diffin an AE86 but I’d still rather have the ‘rina. ;)

Itasha: this year will be big!

A new year has started, so let’s bring on the predictions for the upcoming year! My first prediction will be that Itasha will become big! Maybe not outside Japan, but surely it will become BIG in Japan!

As you can see in this video at 4:05 even Isami Amemiya is picking up the trend! So if you want to be running up front and be a trend setter: start converting your GTR, FD or VIP car to an Itasha! :D

Double classic: 1965 Hino Contessa Sprint filmed in 1985

How about a double classic? This one off prototype of the Hino Contessa Sprint was filmed in 1985:

The Contessa Sprint 900 was drawn by Michelotti and exhibited at the Turin Auto Show in 1962 and it looks a bit like the beautifully styled Glas cars.

This 1965 Contessa Sprint was prepared for the 1966 Paris Auto Salon by French autobuilder Alpine (before they became part of Renault) and its underpinnings are shared with the famous Alpine 110 and featured a specially tuned DOHC 1300 engine from the Contessa 1300! Now that is a car I would certainly like to drive!
