Just spotted the upcoming Nostalgic 2 Days event this weekend in Yokohama on a minkara blog. It sure does look promising:
And in contrary of many western Nostalgic events not only the waxers are coming there, but also the tuners and zokushas will be present! Anyone wants to sponsor my last minute ticket? :P
While browsing some pictures of old JDM tin I found a topic on a Russian forum about old Japanese cars in Russia. One of its members owns this great white Carina GT-TR TA63 sedan:
White Russian Carina TA63 sedan
Somehow the wide Russian plate really makes it look more bad than the tinted windows! (???)
And the options just keep on going:
electric windows, electric mirrors, cruise computer, air conditioner, gidrach (?) power steering, electricity boards, sunroof, LSD, all disc brakes, the music on 5 speakers (4 + subwoofer), illumination of the driver’s seat and the ignition lock at night

Facebook fan Brad Hogan sent me a couple of tokusatsu videos through Facebook. Two of them were Kikaider videos and they are quite hilarious:
He actually fights his enemies by driving over them with his sidecar while drifting his motorcycle. :D
For people who are (like me)unknown with Kikaider, the Wikipedia article says this:
Kikaider (????????? Jinz? Ningen Kikaid??, lit. Artificial Humanoid Kikaider) is a Japanese superhero created by Shotaro Ishinomori. The character has appeared in manga, tokusatsu, and anime.
Paying tribute to Astro Boy, created by his mentor Osamu Tezuka, Ishinomori used the stories of Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio (which was also the basis for Astro Boy) along with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as the basis for his science fiction action story.
Kikaider, the main character, is a humanoid robot, built by Dr. Komyoji to protect himself and his children from the dark Android commanded by the evil Professor Gill, the leader of a terrorist organization called DARK.
Well, he sure does look a bit like Frankenstein! :D
This compilation is also fantastic:
As you can see he travels around on his motorcycle with sidecar and a guitar on his back. He can walk on walls and whenever he transforms into Kikaider his sidecar magically moves to the other side! :D
Do you remember this picture of the Drift King?
Two Keiichi Tsuchiyas?
I posted that picture of Keiichi Tsuchiya in his younger years half a year ago. Back then I judged from his glasses that it shot was before he did the Pluspy video and now I got proof of that! A new rogue video of Keiichi drifing in the early 80s emerged where he drifts several cars (including a Corolla TE37, Sunny B210 and a Skyline C110!) on his home touge and he does wear the very same glasses:

Unfortunately the user who posted it on Youtube did not allow the video to be embedded, so you will have to do with the screenshot above. To watch the video go here: Keiichi Tsuchiya drifting touges before his freshman series
It is a bit weird to see the twin brother of my own Carina:
Blue Toyota Carina DX TA60 automatic
Yes, it looks exactly the same as mine, is an automatic, it is blue and it is located about 50 kilometers from my home! Maybe time to reunite them? :P
Blue Toyota Carina DX TA60 automatic
Not only is it blue on the outside, but it is also blue on the inside!
Trivia: the car is parked by someone not used to an automatic gearbox! The car is still in Drive! ;)
Blue Toyota Carina DX TA60 automatic
Even though it may appear as the twin brother of my Carina with the difference that it is blue (did I already mention that?) there are certainly a few other striking differences: no right side mirror (yes, not obliged in the Netherlands until 1992), no seatbelts on the back seats (clearly a Dutch model), less attrictive steel wheels (mine had gunmetal grey centercaps), front air dam and rear skirts have been painted dark, modern radio with cd player (mine still got the factory auto reverse one), no automatic antenna, 60k more kilometers (145k) and a lot of rust.
It reminds me of this blue Carina TA60 that was for sale in the Netherlands one and a half years ago: same color scheme, same options but then with a manual gearbox and 100k less kilometers.

Look at the bright side: if this car is worth 2900 euros, imagine what my less rusty Carina with more options is worth! :D
