Reverse fetish: EUDM AE86 gauge cluster in JDM car

I love to have my car look as closely to a JDM car as possible. That includes changing things like the headlights, badges and gauge cluster. I’m not alone in this since I’ve seen a lot of people on AEU86 buying JDM analogue and digi dashes for the AE86. Now seeing this picture on the :
Reverse fetish: EUDM AE86 cluster
Reverse fetish: EUDM AE86 cluster

Yes, that is a JDM cluster made to look like a EUDM spec cluster!
Since the JAF (Japanese Automobile Federation) decided in the 1970s that limiting the speedo to 180km/h would stop people from speeding influenced the Japanese to go wild on any speedo that exceeds 180km/h. I call it a reverse fetish! ;)

BTW: If you seek a real EUDM cluster, just drop me an email and I’ll try to arrange one for you! :)

Carina Sightings: Kyusha Kai Carina GT-TR

I found this kyusha kai styled Carina GT-TR on a spring meeting of a few other Carinas on Carview. I think this is definitely the coolest Carina I saw so far:
Kyusha Kai Carina GT-TR TA63
Kyusha Kai Carina GT-TR TA63

Lowered, black fender extenders, gunmetal grey RS Watanabe rims, rollcage, bride seat, etc. etc…

Now that Carina alone would have been a great post by itself, but then I spotted this picture of a Carina A60 sticker:
I want this Carina sticker!
I want this Carina A60 sticker!

The coolest thing ever!! Now let’s see if I can lay my hands upon one! :)

HachiRock 2010

HachiRock 2010 has been announced! This year it will be held on the 19th of September, so that is about one week later than last year. Of course it will be at the same spot: the Sagamiko resort
HachiRock Festa 2010
HachiRock Festa 2010

The poster is yet again extrodinary beautiful: a SD (Super Deformed) kouki Trueno with deep dish SSR Mk IIIs doing some drifts! Just as great as last years Panda red Levin

Because last year was sold out months before they raised the total amount of cars from 250 to 270, not that it will help much: I expect it to be sold out soon! ;)

If you are near Tokyo this September this is definitely a meeting you should go to! See here for more info: HachiRock 2010 website

DOTS: Cars with identity crisis

Sometimes you come across cars with some form of identity crisis. It is easy to spot the obvious like a rebadged Mitsubishi Lancer as an EVO VI or something like that. But sometimes you can come across cars that think they are actually from another brand, just like this Honda Civic EG thinking it is a Mazda MX3:
Honda Civic EG MX3
Honda Civic EG MX3

Wait? What’s that? A MX3??

According to these fake stick on chrome letters it is a MX3:
Honda Civic EG MX3
Honda Civic EG MX3

And the owner actually knows he is driving a Honda Civic since he also stuck that on the hatch as well!

Another one with identity crisis is this Nissan Navara (aka Hardbody Truck in the US):
Nissan Navara VW
Nissan Navara VW

The owner clearly owns a VW Type 2 T3 van so maybe the ornament of the VW mysteriously traded places? Or maybe a silent wish of the owner?? Or maybe he was inspired by my posting about a Nissan 720 pickup with a similar identity crisis! ;)
The car is not a Nissan Navara but a VW Taro (rebadged Toyota Hilux)!
