Japanese rustoseums (part nine)

It has been some time since I posted the last rustoseum, so here are some more! What about this poor GA61 Celica XX? It already looks way beyond reasonable repairs:

It was supposed to be the flagship of the Celcia XX range… What happened? Did the owner think it got out of fashion? At least the 15 inch 6J Celica XX rims look salvageable…

How about this Silvia S13 in the foliage then?

Sure enough its headlights were stripped, but apart from that it still looks quite complete… Maybe still salvageable?

And the last one, a (former) white MR2:

It still looks okay and complete: not too much rust. Now is that picture playing tricks with me or does the car next to it have some bosozoku exhaust pipes??

Carina Sightings: white Carina GT-R E-AA63 on white Volks

I’m not very fond of Volk racing rims nor led headlights on (modern) nostalgics, however I do think they suit this white Carina GT-R well:

The Carina is a five speed manual with an AE92 4AGE engine swap, controlled by a Freedom ECU. Too bad the owner did not post up more pictures, info and specs of this Carina, so it is unknown which 4AGE (smallport of bigport) it is… :(

Commerical time: the new Nissan Skyline GC10

Remember I posted about the DVD with all the JDM Skyline commercials on it? Well, someone already posted up the Skyline GC10 part on Youtube… After yesterdays shoebox gem GC10 advertisement I thought it would be very nice to post it up immediately today!

La la la la laaaa!
Damn, commercials were cheesy back in the late 60s! Lucky for us the Skyline itself wasn’t that cheesy! ;)

Personally I like these GC10 commercials better than the famous GC110 Ken&Mary commercials (note that a young Ken and Mary already star in some of these commercials!). Perhaps it has to do with the sporty image of the GC10 model range?

The same user uploaded a few other Skyline commercials as well, so I will post them spread over the upcoming week!

DOTS: 1979 Suzuki Cervo SC100

Half a year ago I posted a black 1981 Suzuki Cervo SC100 and thought it was a one time only… Well last Sunday I spotted another Cervo:
Down on the Street: Suzuki Cervo SC100 GX
Down on the Street: Suzuki Cervo SC100 GX

This brown GX model was parked in the back of a parking lot in front of a party-centre. You can see the sign saying “Parkeren achterzijde” which roughly translates into “rear parking”. Glad they didn’t park it there, otherwise I wouldn’t have spotted the Cervo!

Seen from the front it looks immaculate:

Apart from that one tiny little dent in the front bumper…

But on the rear…

…lots of dents in the rear bumper! How can you bump such a tiny car into something else? I mean: you can practically feel the distance when you stick your arms out of the window! ;)

MOT expired about two years ago and apart from the flat tire I can’t see anything wrong with this car…

Video: 21 years ago on the 1989 Tokyo Auto Salon…

21 years ago on the 1989 Tokyo Auto Salon when the Nissan Silvia S13, Mazda RX7 FC, Nissan Skyline R31, Toyota Supra JZA70, Nissan 300ZX Z31 were still fresh and tuned to the max:

My favorite is definitely the Advan Super Silhouette inspired replica @5:30!

Now compare that to the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon:

Quite a difference, right! :P

Also note the Nissan Skyline R32 is missing here! The R32 debuted in May 1989 (press release) and was only for sale in July that year. So naturally it was absent on the Auto Salon…
