Remembering Japanese cars from the past
Mary and her sisters are sitting in the back of a Kenmeri Skyline. At least, that’s what I thought when I saw this photograph for the first time. But who are they? I saved it for later and fast forward a couple of years and decided to run the photo through Google Bard. That turned out to be a nice surprise!
Google Bard identified the three women as Ran, Sue and Miki from the Japanese idol group the Candies (キャンディーズ). Here’s a photo of them in reverse order:

Chief Daimon’s men borrow a Nissan Datsun Truck (aka the Datsun 720 crew cab) over a couple of hills into the docks:
Especially the cartoonish chase between the stacks of pallets is hilarious! You know the sort of chase: going in on side and getting out from the other. It’s something like that!

A plumber driving a Kenmeri Skyline GT-R? Well, not entirely true: Huminori Watanabe is a plumber and he drives a Nissan Skyline KGC110 GT-R imitation.

Okay the title may be a bit click-baity and this plumber doesn’t come to your house in his Kenmeri Skyline. But the fact remains that this plumber actually owns a Nissan Skyline GT-R C110 replica! It looks and feels the same, but if you listen well you will notice the engine sound isn’t exactly the same…

And if you look careful enough you will notice this Kenmeri Skyline GT-R has a SOHC L20A or L24 inline six and not the DOHC S20 that featured in the GT-R. In other words: it’s a KGC110 and not a KPGC110. Still a very cool car to do your plumbing in! :D :D

This long blonde haired American owned a 1974 Nissan Skyline 2000 GTX complete with a set of periodically correct Hart Racing rims back in 1982.
