Hilarious: drift mom and dad around Ebisu in a JZX90!

This brought a big grin on my face when I watched this video: Minihux from Dirft Colors (previously WeAreDrift) drifts his mom and dad around Ebisu circuit in a borrowed Cresta JZX90. Apparently his mom and dad weren’t that impressed…

Perhaps he went a bit soft on them…

Before you think the car switches from RHD to LHD all the time: minihux claims the camera was upside down in the car, so therefore he flipped the video, making it LHD. Makes sense since the paper stuck on the rear window is readable now and normally is only readable from the outside.

Drift video: Suzumebachi attack! (part 2)

Half a year ago I already featured another Suzumebachi attack! post, also with videos by JRotaro and ae86lan. Difference is that this time they have been shot from the inside of one of the hachis:

At first only two hachis make their drifts on the Mount Fuji drift course (next to the Fuji International Speedway) but slowly more and more hachis join in.

Here is another video with 10 minutes of those suzumebachi hornets going sideways: Continue reading

Video: Chichibu touge videos from 1990

I found ae86lan adding these videos to his favorites on Youtube. The three videos are footage of touge runs in May 1990 with mainly AE86s, AE82s and Starlets. I must warn that there is hardly any drifting involved in these videos: most cars car grip driving up and down the touges around Chichibu.

The Skyline lookalike tail lights in the beginning of the clip are from a Nissan Langley. You can also spot around 4:00 a Celica AA63 and around 5:00 a Carina AA63.

Here is another video from that very same night:

And last but not least, another one from a different night going up and downhill:

Video: old school drifting in Funabashi (Chiba)

TwinTurboRS posted his 100th video and it is a very very very long street drift video (47 minutes!) from a long long long time ago on Youtube in the Funabashi near the pear area (Chiba prefecture) featuring many AE86s, RX7 FCs, Skyline R30s and even a Carina TA63 @8:45:

Unfortunately embedding is disabled, so you will have to click on the picture to watch the video!

Even in the intro you can even see a 8 spoke RS Watanabe in a pile of discarded wheels! Madness! Enjoy 47 minutes of madness!

Video: drifting on Kurume in 1991

I think these three videos are about the earliest drift videos to be found on Youtube so far!
Be prepared for an overkill of Hakosuka Skylines, Corolla Levin AE86s and Sprinter Trueno AE86s, (brand new) Nissan Silvia and 180SX S13s, Mazda FCs, MR2 AW11s, Isuzu Gemini, Eunos Roadster, Lancer Turbo, Toyota Carina and even an Isuzu Piazza right at the beginning! Two of the videos are shot on the pass next to Kurume (Fukuokai) and the other one on Yz circuit in Mizunami!

In this second video it really shows how dangerous the drifts of these guys actually were: I stopped counting after the tenth near accident with oncoming traffic!

Yes, a real bunch of lunatics!

There is some serious action on the YZ circuit going on and at 4:36 you can spot an occasional zenki Carina GT twice:

Looking at all this track action I get the feeling the aftermarket for springs and shocks wasn’t as big as today! Most of the cars drift like a boat! :D

I understand why Shuichi Shigeno got inspired by his drift friends back in the early nineties! These guys really were way before drifting went from fun to pro.
