Japanese rustoseums (part seventeen)

I’ll try to post as much Carina related stuff this week as possible, so be prepared for some overload of Carina goodness! Let’s kick off with some Carina rustoseums!

For starters I found this little 3A powered SG coupe rusting away on someones blog:

A small detail: the Carina sits on a set of Celica A40 rims.

This Carina TA67 wagon looks like an old delivery van. With the writing on its side it looks like what the Fujiwara Tofu Carina TA67 must have looked like:

Of course the 2T engine did not have enough power by itself, so naturally he would have swapped it for a 2T-G or 3T-GT. :D

Speaking about rusty vans. how about another TA67?

It was found near Rausu. This one really looks bad and way beyond repair.

Carina Sightings: Impulse AA63 Carina coupe

From the front this Carina coupe is almost the spitting image of last weeks tekamens rival but you can see after the windhield it is clearly a coupe and not a sedan:

This Carina was tuned by Impulse (also known for their excellent AE86s) and the bigport 4AGE engine was swapped for a later type 20 valve blacktop. Also the deep dish gold mesh rims suit the coupe well.

As you can see they rerouted the waterlines, heatwrapped spaghetti exhaust headers and direct spark ignition:

Nice job! :)

Carina Sightings: Ukrainian Carina GT

Two weeks ago Andrew sent me a picture of his Carina GT and asked me if I was interested in more pictures and info regarding it. Of course I am! ;)

His Carina GT is a 3A-U powered GT model and was delivered originally to Krivoy Rog city in the Ukraine in 1982! I didn’t even know it was possible to buy anything else than Russian cars like the VAZ range. The 3A-U powered GT model is a bit puzzling, however the car has a GT cluster (with an oil pressure meter in the middle) and it was an export model so the designations could be different from the JDM badges.

When the first owner passed away the car remained in storage and was not abused untill his children were old enough to make some small damage at the front of the car:

The car was sold and eventually Andrew bought it in 2007.

The car is in immaculate condition and almost looks as if it was new:

However there is one modification made by Andrew: he moved the fender mirrors to the doors to improve visibility. I can imagine that: the fender mirrors are not well known for the area they cover to the rear. On the other hand: they are rare fender mirrors!

Here is another detail of when the car was imported:

Apparently the Hyogo Toyota dealer made a deal with the USSR to import a batch of Toyotas. Nice to see this car survived that long! :)

Carina Sightings: Super deformed Carina TA63 drawing

On Minkara I spotted this amazing drawing of a Toyota Carina TA63:

It was drawn at the second Historic Car Jam, held in the Central Park in Tenmonkan (Kagoshima) and is a drawing given to Rough Garage. (Where did I see that name and logo in slightly different shape before… )

And this is the original:

Too bad Rough Garage doesn’t own a sedan, otherwise it would have been a perfect copy of mine as well. :P
Perhaps I should start drawing Carinas like this as well. ;)
