Vintage JDM wheel sizes explained

The width, offset and inner and outer barrel sizes on vintage JDM wheels were one of those things I always thought were somehow correlated, but never invested time into this. I ran into a very interesting classified ad on Yahoo Auctions for some SSR Formula Mesh wheels, and it caught my attention because of the sizes. I started to investigate and ran into an article on Kaido Racer blog, explaining the SSR size. Thanks to their article, it all became much clearer now how there is a relation between wheel size, offset and type.

Carina Sightings: 1994 Toyota Carina GT meeting

What would a Toyota Carina GT meeting look like in 1994? Well these photos were taken in 1994 at a Carina meeting somewhere in the Saitama Prefecture:

All Carinas are GT models and all except one (RA45 18R-G) are 2T-G powered. How bizarre is that? I would say that’s pretty epic as the 2T-G versions of the third generation are now close to extinct!

Now this picture of two Advan A3A rims made me think of the Matrix:
