DOTS winter edition: Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow!

Two days ago it started snowing in the Netherlands, so of course I had to take pictures of some of the cars I covered before. I had to wait till yesterday before I could make some pictures of the Nissan 200SX S14 covered in snow.

Funny how this S14 turns out to have the looks of a S14a when covered in snow! The headlights are now less round and appear to be sloping up a bit!

I couldn’t tell anything about the state of the car since it was covered in snow. But I don’t think these few inches of snow will do any good to the uncovered parts.

I also decided not to try to get hold of the car: I don’t think another project will do me any good. ;)

Tomorrow we have *another* DOTS winter edition with a few snow covered Miatas!

Hilarious: Midget II chicken race

This chicken race video is very funny to watch:

Apparently Gan-san’s reaction gets worse during the years: he doesn’t even manage to brake in time and stay within the marked area!

And you can even fit two people in it:

And if you thought those Midgets are for losers, how about this tuned Midget II sitting on a set of SSR Mk 1s?

I’d swap my Carina for that Midget II without hesitation! :D :D

Carina sightings:Carina A40 commercials with Sonny Chiba

After last weeks puppy saving Carina with Sonny Chiba we have two other Carina videos featuring him:

The Sporty Special looks like a great car to me! Could it have been a special version of the Carina GT coupe TA45 or was it just the ordinary LX or XT?

How about Sonny Chiba driving the Swiss Alps then?

Lovely sight to see the Carina coupe driving through the mountains! Even the Swiss Rescue give their thumbs up!

Suzuki Cultus at Pikes Peak hillclimb in 1992

Being from the Playstation generation I only knew about the existence of the 1992 twin engined Suzuki Cultus (aka Suzuki Swift) through Gran Turismo 2. This little car is overshadowed by its bigger brother, the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak, but looking at these two videos of the 1992 Pikes Peak hillclimb makes me fond of the little brother too!

The first video shows Daijiro Inada doing the 0-100 in 3.6 seconds (I bet he liked that!) and some of the JDM competitors damaging their cars.

Quite spectacular is the onboard camera footage from the Mitsubishi Colt number 7 when it tumbles down the mountain:

Even more spectacular is the run done by Nobuhiro Tajima in his twin engined Suzuki Cultus: even though he has a damaged tire he manages to finish his run in 12:51! Amazing!

Makes me wish it was 1992 again! ;)

Honda NSX promotional video

Personally I’m not really a Honda man, but I do like beautiful things like the NSX! :)

Hiroun156 uploaded this beautiful Honda NSX promotional video from the early 90s (probably 1990) with the NSX driving through European landscapes:

Note that both NSXes used in this video are RHD, so a (temporary) Japanese car import was required to shoot these videos.

And the hand of the driver at the Nürburgring, could that have been Motoharu Kurosawa?

On the other hand, Gan-san did not wear an helmet when he drove that NSX to a 8:16 recordtime in 1990:
