This cool video shows how Ove Andersson’s driving is being monitored in the 4T-GTE Twincam Turbo Celica by the TRD engineers in the early 80s. Simple setups with rubberbands and pullys, a single registration unit… Back in those days state of the art technique!
I love it how easy and relaxed Ove is driving: full throttle, steering madly and driving on the edge wearing nothing more than a tiny helmet, a pair of sunglasses, a polo and shorts. And that 4T-GTE sound! Awesome!!

What would Bunta Fujiwara drive in 2008?

The Japanese Estima may be a bit less well equiped than the American supercharged version, but it sure does have potential:

So the big question is: why would Bunta Fujiwara favor the Ipsum above the Estima then? IMO I think it is quite natural of Bunta to do such a thing: Takumi first learns to drive the Trueno AE86 (FR layout) really hard. Then he gets beaten by Bunta in an AWD Impreza, so he has to learn to drive that AWD really hard as well. Logically Bunta would then have to beat Takumi with a FWD, so what better car to totally humiliate Takumi with???

Too bad the video has been removed now… In a nutshell: it contained another Fujiwara Tofu replica parked in front of the tofu shop and in the background a Toyota Ipsum (Picnic outside Japan) was parked next to the tofu shop on the same spot the AE86 used to be parked… So apparently Bunta has sold the Ipsum! :D
Anyway, below this picture there was a whole (2chan) thread copied in which a couple of users wrote a funny Initial D spoof! I advice you to go to Mattari’s blog and read the whole story (with Google Translate for instance)! ;)

A few weeks back I already featured some pictures by Michinoku Grand at the HistoriX Japan meeting and during some browsing of his Photozou archives I came across a Carina crowd at the New Year Meeting 2010 in Odaiba:

Four Carina’s may not be that impressive, but given the age of the Carina A60 and the amount of cars at the meeting it is actually quite a lot! ;)
Michinoku Grand did like the black Carina van a lot:

Also note the rims on Carina sedan behind it: they look exactly like the Atiwe telephone rims on the European AE86 Haslback trim. They could very well be some licensed JDM manufactured rims of course. ;)

Last week I already posted 86jnosakuretu48te’s Mc Donalds drift run and if you watched it right till the end you would have noticed him drifting Ebisu North reverse and entering the Paddock with insane speed. He wasn’t alone that day: ae86lan joined him and captured some of his insanity on video:
This is not the same run as the Mc Donalds run, but I think you get the picture. ;)
