Carina Sightings: stickerbombed TA40 at JCS2011

Another jewel at the Japan Classic Sunday was Eric’s shakotan stickerbombed TA40:

I’ve seen a couple of stickerbombed cars, but never one that has them all over the side of the car!

However on the other side it is almost empty:

But wait, maybe there is another interesting sticker on that side:

Almost looks like a real tsurikawa! ;)

JCS2011: My first impression

My first impression on Yesterdays Japan Classic Sunday was that it was great! Met up with a lot of people and the cars at the meeting were amazing! A small summary of cars present: an immaculate JDM Carina TA17 coupe (more on that later this week), lowered and sticker-bombed Carina TA40, Corolla KE25KE20 with a 2TG swap, many Celica TA22/RA22ls, MR2s, many Celica Supra Mk. IIs and of course this amazingly restored Crown RS40L from 1964:

This Crown RS40L was by far the star of the meeting! Its owners (father and son) restored it back to (almost) original state in the past few years.

Apart from the front grille with all its brightworks the tail lights were are the best second best part of the Crown:

The round tail lights are pre-facelift which makes it even more special.

The Crown is powered by the 1.9 liter 3R engine and has a three speed manual on the steering column.

The paintjob was stunning and I tried to capture some clouds in it:

And last but not least, the interior:

The interior has been restored as if it came straight out of the factory.

Obviously the Crown won two prizes: the first prize for being the best oldtimer at the meeting and being the oldest car at the meeting.

More photos will follow. In the meanwhile keep an eye on my Flickr account to see new uploads. ;)

JCS2011: Super rare Carina hardtop coupe TA17!

This posting had a high Sonny Chiba feeling: this restored Carina hardtop coupe TA17 is exactly the same model as Sonny Chiba used in the famous commercial!

The owner and his buddies came all the way from Finland to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and inbetween they stopped by at the JCS2011!

Just look at how beautiful those tail lights are sunken deeply into the bodywork!

Also imagine what potential watertrap that could be!

The Carina TA17 hardtop coupe has been imported from Japan and it, as the owner described it, is his dreamcar and he simply had to. He does own another 10 Toyotas from which 3 are Carina TA14s.

Last but not least: this is how great fender mirrors are:

A very high coolness factor but a limited angle of view…

Family Album Treasures: Jokers Yonmeri Skyline GC110

This particular Yonmeri Skyline was actually owned by one of the members of the Aoyama Jokers (one of the most notorious Bosozoku gangs in the 70s and 80s) and modified in what we call Kyusha Kai nowadays.

The car features a set of 9J wide Volk Mesh rims.
Of course this picture was taken near the beach/shore and the owner stands casually next to his pride and joy. Definitely worth adding such a photo to your family album!

Video: No Pikes No Life!

This cute video featuring many many photos of Nissan Paos and Nissan Figaros (and their owners) was created by Yamamottinn, I expect him to have had a lot of work visiting, photographing and finding the right setting for all those individuals…

Loved it so much that I re-ran it several times and already played with the idea of owning one myself. ;)
