Brilliant: Super Silhouette Eurobeat!

About thirteen years ago I discovered Eurobeat through JDM games and a well known animation series, so from time to time I get Eurobeat cravings and hunt Youtube for background music at work. Today I found this great mix called Super Eurobeat Winter Crazy Racer Version:

Yes indeed the background picture contains the original Super Silhouette Tomica Skyline KDR30 with a kaido racer knock off photoshopped (or should I say MS Painted ;) ) next to it.

Well the mix does contain some kaido racer sounds around 5:30 and police sirens near the end: Continue reading

Mazda Cosmo AP as the official FISCO pacecar

Back in 1976 Mazda happily provided Fuji International Speedway a new official pace car for their Grand Championships:

The Cosmo RE-130AP replaced a Nissan Fairlady 260Z (as seen on the right) and held the crown for a couple of years. I think it is one of the most beautiful pace cars ever!

The initial version had rims that looked like (Bridgestone) Zona Spoke 10 rims but then with four spokes. The the later type in this picture featured the Zona FIN-2 rims. This is a picture of the four spoke design:

Anyone familiar with the Zona Spoke rims and recognizes the four spoke design?

Brilliant: Soaring smokers

I found this brilliant ashtray on a blog about deep dished rims and I must say that the concept of uniting smokers with the 7M-GTE turbo engine of the Soarer MZ21 is a stoke of genius!

Of course now 25 years later this ashtray has become a blast of the past…
