DOTS: Miata hunting! (part 7)

Time to hunt some more Miatas! Or actually some MX5s! And to be more specific: only NAs (first model)!
Down on the Street: red Mazda MX5
Down on the Street: red Mazda MX5

I spotted this red MX5 next to the trafficlight when I was cycling to work. Not much to tell about except that it was driven by a blonde elderly woman.

The blue MX5 is a bit more interesting:

Since the owners have both motorcycles and presumably another daily driver this MX5 only sits on their driveway. Even though it looks hardly used it appeared to be in excellent condition. It also got an aftermarket exhaust, rims but the rest of it looked stock. Nice tourer though! :)

Now the silver one:

It is a lowered MX5 with some Rota Flights rims (Racing Hart CPF Tune R knock offs). Since I was driving I stopped the car next to the sidewalk and took the picture without looking through the finder, too bad I left the camera on manual focus and didn’t notice it at all.

Did come back a few days later but couldn’t find the car anymore… :(

Expensive hobbies: Nissan Skyline GT-R owners trackday

Some hobbies can be very expensive: for instance owning a Nissan Skyline C10 GT-R can already be very expensive, but driving one hard on a owners trackday may become even more expensive!

I wonder what the total of this line of cars (without the Lambo) would be worth. I counted at least 2 genuine KPGC10s, 1 genuine KPGC110 and at least 6 GC10s. That’s probably worth at least half a million euros. :o

But there were many more cars than that line up:

The trackday was not only limited to GT-R owners alone: as you can see the tekamen DR30s were welcome as well. :)

And if you look closely you can also spot a white AA63 Carina GT-R in the top right corner (next to the Silvia S13)

This shot is my favorite:

Which of these three beauties would you choose?

Commercial time: Nissan’s rally cars

The Violet from last monday made me think about its rally heritage. The Violet A10 was Nissan’s most successful rally car and the later models were powered by the LZ20 DOHC engine we know from the Nissan Super Silhouette Formula cars. Back in 1982 Nissan still appreciated their rally achievements and showed it with this TV advertisement:

The video starts with a the normal Gazelle S110 RS commercial, but shortly after that it shows the Nissan Violet A10 splashing through a big muddy pools and going sideways on the fourth Safari Rally. As a bonus it gets followed by another Gazelle S110 RS commercial! Probably they couldn’t get enough of that 4 valve FJ20E engine of theirs! Now that is appreciation! :)

Carina Sightings: Carina van TA67 rustoseum

In one of my rustoseum searches I came across a very sorry looking Carina TA67 van left behind in the middle of nowhere:

All windows are gone, roof looks like it could serve as a pool and the inside looks like a farmer used it as a shed. :D

You can see big dents on the side and the side mouldings are missing everywhere except on the rear door.

There are two things I would actually have wanted from this Carina: the round headlights (I can at least start a collection then!) and the wind deflectors.

Random: Red or blue pill?

Now this picture of two Advan A3A rims made me think of the Matrix:
Advan A3A rims: blue or red?
Advan A3A rims: blue or red?

Morpheus: This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
I’d say I take the red Advan then! :P
