Hilarious: space battleship Yamato car!

Just imagine seeing this Honda Acty based Space Battleship Yamato in your rear view mirror:

Personally I would most certainly shout a few WTFs! ;P

The whole wooden boat structure is put around an old second generation Honda Acty:

I wonder if the wipers still work! :D

Apparently the police didn’t think space battleships should drive on the public road:

Can’t blame them: you simply can’t drive around with such big exhaust at the rear!

And perhaps also the NSFW contents of the car:

At least Captain Okita has his seat in the rear right behind his trusty crewmember Yuki Mori! :D

You can view all photos on [Yahoo Auction Watch] where the Yamato goes head to head with some baddies in a sharknose Soarer!

Carina Sightings: 30000 yen Carina GT-R bargain!

I guess this is one of these bargains you always hope for: a blue Carina GT-R AA63 for only 30000 yen! That is only 370 US dollars! And (at time of posting) the auction only has 11 hours to go before it ends!My bad: it still has 12 days to go before it ends!

This blue GT-R is currently for sale at Auctions Yahoo with an opening bid of 30000 yen! Why? Because it is covering the recycling costs! It is of course questionable if the seller actually will sell it for that price, but he specifically states “Only the highest bid is fine because it is inclusive of charge for recycling.“.

The Carina is a 1983 model, only covered 150k kilometers and was painted Alfa Romeo 147 midnight blue a few years ago. The deep dish white SSR mesh rims really complement the whole car.

Apart from having a clean 4A-GE it also got (a non functioning) aircon and powersteering under the hood and powerwindows and central locking in its doors.

Not only does it have all those luxury options: it is also features a lightened AE101 flywheel, lowered with AE92 shocks and springs at the front and GAB shocks and cut springs at the rear. It also has a FRP bonnet and trunklid to save weight!

IMO a real bargain for that price!

If you are still not convinced, here is a gallery of the Carina!

You can find the auction here: Midnight blue Carina AA63.

Video: the ultimate boro AE86 duo!

This short video from ae86lan shows you the ultimate boro AE86 duo: a stripped 3 door Sprinter Trueno and 2 door Corolla Levin! The duo was discovered in Okegawa (Saitama)

At first I thought he was filming a dump site, but after a few seconds I realized I was wrong!

He also took a video of the duo in action:

This proves that 40% of the AE86 was unnecessary crap you don’t need anyway! ;)

Commerical time: Toyota Tarago, a real winner!

Back in 1987 when I visited my uncle in Australia he moved us around the Brisbane area in his Toyota Tarago before my parents rented a Holden Commodore VK. I thought the Tarago was much cooler to drive around than the Commodore: it had more room, better view, turnaround seats and most importantly aircon!

So I kind of liked this Australian Tarago commercial:

Funny thing is that according to this ad the bumpers passed the US safety regulations. Apparently the Australians really liked that big fat lip under the face of the Tarago. Personally I preferred the JDM/EU face with Carina-like headlights and plastic bumpers:

When I spotted a Toyota Van for sale earlier this year I was very tempted. I could constrain myself and someone else walked away with it. I met the lucky owner on the Japan Classic Sunday this summer and he takes really good care of the van!

And here is another Australian ad:

Is it a bullet? Is it a train? No! It is Tarago!

Brochures: Nissan Skyline VBC110 van

Some time ago I aquired a JDM brochure of the Nissan Skyline VBC110 van:

I spotted it on a local auction site for a cheap price. I can’t think any other way of how this brochure actually got into the Netherlands than with the help of a collector, but why it was sold for a decent price puzzles me…

Perhaps because a lot of people can’t appreciate the weird 70s lines of the Kenmeri Skyline?

I just love that thick C-pillar of the wagon! Imagine how big the blind spot of this wagon must be!

The interior is, of course, a lower grade than in the other C110s. Nevertheless it looks awesomely 70s!

And size matters:

What about having that Nissan Anti-Pollution System?

I have no idea what the NAPS anti pollution system is (probably means it got a hemi-head), but I think that became standard on all other Nissans over the years! ;)
