Remembering Japanese cars from the past

Month: September 2010 (Page 1 of 6)

Commerical time: Hakosuka commuter

Fourty two years ago there was a businessman returning home from his work in his new shiney Nissan Skyline GC10. Judging from the short nose it is almost certainly powered by the G-15:

It is also funny to see the comparison with the Japanese Grand Prix winning Nissan R381 #20. That would certainly be a good reason to wear those leather gloves during daily commute. ;)

Carina Sightings: GT-TR at Garage Goods

I like to drool over some JDM Carinas from time to time, so when I got that urge I browse the available Carina A60s on Goo-Net. This week I found this excellent Carina GT-TR example for sale at Garage Goods:

I love that bosozoku like chin-spoiler: almost cutting up the road like a razorblade!

From the rear the car looks just as great and do notice all the available cars in the background:

Several Soarers, a Levin, a Trueno Black Limited, Skylines, Silvias, Glorias. Too many cool cars to count!

The interior of the TA63 has been modified with some gauges:

Personally I don’t like gauges and apart from the tach I think they are a bit out of place here…

Last but not least:

A set of deep dish SSR Mk IIs!

For a mere 650,000 yen (almost 8,000 US dollars) it can be yours.

Super Lucent Mira

What can badge tuning do to an awesome kei-car like the Daihatsu Mira TR-XX?

Make it’s name even more awesome! A Daihatsu Mira L200 Super Lucent TR-XX! How long can a name get? :D
BTW: I love the little bosozoku hood fins! ;)

Amazing: your plumber drives a Kenmeri Skyline GT-R!

A plumber driving a Kenmeri Skyline GT-R? Well, not entirely true: Huminori Watanabe is a plumber and he drives a Nissan Skyline KGC110 GT-R imitation.

Plumber drives Nissan Skyline GT-R replica

Okay the title may be a bit click-baity and this plumber doesn’t come to your house in his Kenmeri Skyline. But the fact remains that this plumber actually owns a Nissan Skyline GT-R C110 replica! It looks and feels the same, but if you listen well you will notice the engine sound isn’t exactly the same…

And if you look careful enough you will notice this Kenmeri Skyline GT-R has a SOHC L20A or L24 inline six and not the DOHC S20 that featured in the GT-R. In other words: it’s a KGC110 and not a KPGC110. Still a very cool car to do your plumbing in! :D :D

DOTS: Two Lexus SC430

Or should it rather be Lexi?

Anyway, they barely have been pulled from production and they are rarer than coming across a Nissan Skyline R35 and still I managed to take a picture of two Lexus SC430s!
Lexus SC430
Lexus SC430

The SC430 superseded the Lexus SC400 (and the JZZ30 Soarer) and it supersedes it in many ways! I’m no SC400 nor a SC430 expert, but I think that if I could drive one of them one day my life would certainly be a bit more complete! ;)

The SC430 above was shot somewhere in the back of a villa-park and was parked next to a bungalow like house. Must have been some TV celeb living there I guess…

The one below was parked in front of a very expensive manor:

Probably the nouveau-riche…

Funny though how the rick people are picking up brands like Lexus as if they are in the same social status as Mercedes or Rolls Royce… But maybe Lexus is finally becoming an icon for the rich and famous…
