Initial D fan FAIL

Failblog.org is one of my favorite daily blogs. Hilarious pictures and videos of fail.

Last weekend they had a new masterpiece:
House Advertisement Fail

It was not the big fallus which I saw first, not even with the big red circle and lines around it, but what I saw first was this:

Apparently I have more interest in the Initial D Sprinter Trueno diecast than to sexual objects. Hmmm…. Is that a bad thing? Big Banpei FAIL?! [???]

Commercial time: psychedelic Corona Mark II RT60

I found this great Space Age (almost psychedelic) commercial of the Toyota Corona Mark II:

The advertisement was made in 1968 with the first generation Mark II and it just landed in between the swinging sixties and the Space Age! The music and voice over is typically sixties beat while the Advertisement just Space Age.

This zenki model of the Corona Mark II was meant as a model in between the commercial successes of the small Corona and large Crown and had to address the new salary men. What better way to address them than with a psychedelic commercial in the Cinema or on prime time television?

A couple of decades later their children take dads old Corona Mark II and make it a bit more psychedelic than their fathers would have wished for during those swinging sixties… (???)

DOTS: Honda CRX Mk1

I was taking an rural country road to prevent traffic in Hungary on a very busy main road. In one of the small villages I spotted this Honda CRX Mark 1:

Honda CRX Mk1 in Hungary

I think it was at least 2 years ago I saw the previous CRX Mk1, so it is quite a rarity in the Netherlands nowadays. I was quite happy to see such an “old” car and even drove back to take a few snapshots of it:

It was parked next to the common Hungarian small village gutter (see also the DOTS Subaru Justy) next to a mildly tuned Beemer E34 5 series.

The CRX itself looked a bit more tuned than the Beemer and features a set of deep dish steelies, a Mk2 (?) spoiler, aftermarket bumpers and sideskirts and a bigger exhaust. And even though it was all ziptied together, I must say it looked alright to me! (???)

Genuine Dutch Nissan 2400GT catalogue

Look what fell on my doormat two days ago?

A Dutch Nissan 2400GT (aka Skyline) catalogue from 1972! (???)

I found this rarity through a Dutch seller of old Datsun press photos and she did have this catalogue in her possesion as well! Lucky! (???)

Of course it will be scanned and posted here to share it with the rest of the world. ;)

Hilarious: Race with clutch in Neutral?

Starter button pulled out? Race with clutch in Neutral? Push the starter button after you drove the car?

You may wonder what gibberish this is… Well, I can explain it with a very simple picture:
1974 Daihatsu Max start instructions
1974 Daihatsu Max start instructions

Kyteler from Retro Classics found these great instructions on a sticker on the door of the 1974 Daihatsu (Fellow) Max he bought last week.

Weird sentences I found so far:
…(don’t depress the accelerator pedal)…: ok, won’t do that. Will tell the accelerator pedal only cheerful stories then! (???)
…starter button pulled out fully…: shouldn’t that be choke? ?(????)
After you race a few times with the clutch in neutral…: Race the car with the clutch in neutral? How am I supposed to do that? Accelerate really fast on the straight and then press the clutch and do a couple of laps?
Immediately after you drive the vehicle, push the starter button completely: huh? Is it running Microsoft Windows or something?

And this sticker is not the only weird thing about this car! [???]
Head over to Retro Classics to see more pictures of his 1974 Daihatsu Max!

Japanese rustoseums (part one)

Japanese Nostalgic Car blog found another blog full of rotting J-tin. [???]

Most of these blogs have pictures of rusted cars in both wild and urban areas! It appears like it is a national hobby in Japan to keep your old car outside your house if you have the space for it and otherwise park it in a yard (aka rustoseum) with some other rusty friends.

Just have a look at some cars featured on the blog JNC-blog found:
1967 or 1968 Nissan Cedric C130
1967 or 1968 Nissan Cedric C130

A rare Nissan Cedric C130 Mark 2 from 1967 or 1968 without a windscreen. Windscreen missing == rotten interior! Not good! ?(?`???)?

Nissan Skyline GC10 2 door hardtop coupe
Nissan Skyline GC10 2 door hardtop coupe

A Nissan Skyline C10 2 door hardtop coupe, in other words a KGC10 (GT-X) or a KPGC10 (GT-R). But actually there is no hardtop anymore! Hopefully another GC10 hardtop coupe is happy with its new top…

Nissan Skyline C210 1600ti
Nissan Skyline C210 1600ti

Nissan Skyline C210 1600ti: the lowest spec of the C210 Skyline. A mere L16T inline 4 with double carb setup powered this Skyline. I would still love to own this car though: it would be a lot faster than my Carina! (???)

If you ever wondered what the Skyline C210 without round taillights looks like, have a look at this picture:
Nissan Skyline C210 1600ti rear

Not too bad, isn’t it?

On the same dump there was also this super clean car:
Very clean Toyota Carina GT-TR TA63
Very clean Toyota Carina GT-TR TA63

A Carina GT-TR TA63!! (???)
I have no idea what it was doing there: I could not find a rusty spot on it. Even better: not even a spec of dust! According to the blogger the car was for sale!

Stay tuned for more pictures from Japanese rustoseums!
