Popular Bosozoku cars: Toyota Mark II platform

Most of you probably already saw a video posted by white_raven in the comments of last weeks rare popular bosozoku cars posting

Well this video is actually the first of a set of 3 videos about the Toyota Mark II platform. It starts with three bosozoku styled Mark IIs (RT72, MX31 and GX71), a clean tuned Mark II (JZX90) and finishes with the Verossa JZ110 drift car.

Part one contains last weeks bosozoku styled Corona Mark II RT72 and the first part of a bosozoku styled Mark II MX31:

Good detail is that this RT72 has the 8R engine and not the 8R-G, so it is not the GSS model.

Part two contains the second part of the Mark II MX31, the bosozoku styled Mark II GX71 and the clean tuned JZX90:

Note that the GX71 did get a 7M swap, so actually it became a MX71.
BTW: I love the way the tsurikawa is dangling behind the MX31 at 0:25 and scraping over the highway: the only correct way to make use of a tsurikawa! Anyone got a spare one for me? :D

And part 3 contains Hirota’s 2007 JZX110 Verossa drift car:

So a big thanks to white_raven for finding these videos!! :)

Hopefully these videos will stay on Youtube for a while, but I’m afraid they will disappear very soon…

[I posted this article earlier this week on Bosozokustyle.com]

Carina Sightings: my Carina within 5 years?

I was wondering if this white Toyota Carina TA60 I found on autoscout24 is actually my very own Carina within 5 years…

On this picture the car looks quite okay:
This Carina TA60 could be the brother of mine
This Carina TA60 could be the brother of mine

But when looking more into the details it gets less beautiful:
Rust on the right front fender
Rust on the right front fender

And even worse:
Trunk decal is almost rusting off!
Trunk decal is almost rusting off!

And this view looks very very familiar:
Nice clean dashboard and a 5 speed gearbox
Nice clean dashboard and the car has a 5 speed gearbox

And even the interior is exactly the same as mine (but then a bit more worn):
Stained seats and dirty carpets
Stained seats and dirty carpets

So it is a white Carina TA60 with white/black interior and the only difference between this one and my own are the 5 speed gearbox and the rusty spots… So the big question is: am I seeing the future here? ;)

Video: Ken Nomura versus …

The title of the video was already spoiling the surprise so I won’t post that title here… But you will probably see the title when playing the video anyway.

Anyway, enjoy the following video:

First a couple of nice drift cars going sideways, a few cars being inspected on the paddock, including an AE86 Levin with a turbo-ed 4AGZE smallport (with bluetop valve covers) and then… bang! WTF?? :D :D

“showinfo=0” in the url did the trick: so no more title in the video!!

Minivan stoppie

Some months ago I read in an article by Mike Garrett on Speedhunters about minivans doing stoppies to entertain the crowd between the D1SL runs. I did find an excellent movie of someone trying to do the same:

Great! Now let’s learn from that: dismount the shocks on your minivan and drive faster than the allowed speed in your suburban area, pump the brakes to strengthen the effect during the recoil of the springs and voila: a stoppie! :D

Initial D: I love cookies

Funny to see how far you can go with merchandising and squeeze every drop of money out of a cashcow like Initial D:
Initial D milk flavored cookies
Initial D milk flavored cookies

Kodansha did a really good job here: some sesame cookies rebranded as Initial D merchandise? That’s pretty desperate!

And they even have chocolate flavored cookies:
Initial D chocolate flavored cookies
Initial D chocolate flavored cookies

I mean: what has a drifting Corolla Levin AE86 to do with cookies?

If it would have contained something like deep fried tofu I would have understood the product…
Initial D cookies backside
Initial D cookies backside

At least the backside is a bit matching: it has Itsuki handing a cookie to Takumi… Or could it have been something else under that Kodansha sticker???

Hilarious: I love tofu

I already saw this news on Failblog last week and apparently a woman who loves tofu ordered a personalized license plate with ILVTOFU and the DMV objected her request for obvious reasons:

So tofu is obscene all of a sudden? Would it be obscene to cook a deep fried tofu Oden soup together with your dog?

(yes I really love cooking with dog!)
And it gives a whole new dimension to Takumi Fujiwara doing nightly tofu deliveries. Would be be a pimp then? And his father a brothel owner because he runs a tofu shop?

Would that mean that Iketani asking for deep fried tofu is asking to be fucked really deep then?
