Remembering Japanese cars from the past

Friday video: junkyard stroll in Japan

We all see half of Japan’s car inventory being sold as secondhand to the rest of the world through various auction platforms. So that would lead us to the conclusion that Japan’s junkyards must be quite empty and deserted…

WRONG! Just have a look at this video where someone takes a stroll at a (unknown) Japanese junkyard:

I love the detail that the first Crown, the fourth Crown (Majesta) and the first and third Cedric Y32 still have the knitted/embroided traditional headrest covers in place! Also that the second Crown Super Saloon has a full width front bench in place. And what also strikes me is that most of them are largely intact with the keys still in the ignition!
And last but not least: seeing the pristine Cedric 430, Mitsubishi GTO, Nissan Leopard F31 (not about the other Leopard), Nissan Laurel C35, Nissan Skyline R33 GTS4 in such a dreadful state almost brought tears in my eyes…

Car chases: chase the pedestrian

This car chase video actually starts with a Nissan Laurel C230 chasing a pedestrian. Apparently this woman is very scared of the Laurel (or its driver) and fakes being hit by the Abunai Deka Nissan Leopard.

After that an exciting chase between the Leopard and the Laurel starts!

A lot of cars can be seen in the background: at 0:28 a brand new Toyota Celica AT160 can be seen (parked next to an A60 Carina sedan!) and a few seconds later an A60 Carina coupe parked in the far background. And let’s not forget the white Honda Today at 0:56! Another white Carina A60 coupe can be seen at 2:03, a KE70 van at 2:06 and as a bonus a 300ZX Z31 at the traffic light!

Now can you name more than these cars?

Car chases: Abunai Deka episode 51

I love the good old Friday video action on JNC blog, especially because most videos are the old cop series with big car chases. One of them is Abunai Deka which is about the most exaggerated show you can think of: both cops drive in a Nissan Leopard F31 (earlier episodes it were several Skyline R31s) and they love to put it sideways! For instance: they are still going easy on how they stop this poor Mark II GX61:

And what about stopping a boat? Just keep on shooting!

Even if the boat is out of range: keep on firing your gun… You never know: maybe you eventually hit the crook!

(Notice all the old J-tin in the background! At 2:06 a white Carina AA60!)

Now how about this big finale? An Isuzu 117 coupe versus a brand new Suzuki motorcycle! I know: it is against all odds! ;)
Notice more old J-tin here: Carina A40, Corolla KE70 and Crown MS110 wagon at 1:46. And at the end the Isuzu 117 coupe is left behind. Now that’s even better than catching a ghost, isn’t it?

Keep tuned for more car chases! :)
