Carina Sightings: Yellow Carina GT AA63 that is NOT for sale!

My heart skipped a beat when I saw this beautiful yellow Carina GT AA63 for sale on Auctions Yahoo:
Yellow Carina GT AA63 not for sale!
It looked so perfect, immaculate and I just wished I had the money to buy it and ship it to the other side of this planet. But this picture gets even better if you squint your eyes! :P

So when I translated the auction it stated this at the bottom:
Please stop the questions in English. We will not ship internationally, thank you.
Normally that is not a real problem if you use a man-in-the-middle like Hayatonka, so actually you can still consider it for sale!

Anyway, the strange thing about this car is that it is actually a late GT: Continue reading

Irian Jaya: Corona and Corolla touge monsters

On the day of arrival I took a small stroll around the hotel area and encountered these two touge monsters!
Toyota Corona T120 and Corolla KE35 touge monsters

On the left a Corona T120 sedan with … rims and on the right a two door Corolla KE35 on RS Waranabe rims with a bit more wild modifications than the Corona.

I had the pleasure of seeing the Corolla pass by for work on another morning stroll and its raspy exhaust noise was as enjoyable as the looks of it.

On the last day I made another morning stroll but did not meet the owner so I just put a Bosozoku Style sticker under the windshield wipers of both cars. ;)

Ugly duckling to swan (Skyline HR30)

It is always nice to see how a car progresses in time, especially if the car transforms from an ugly duckling to a swan like this Skyline R30 owned by Zeki did back in the mid nineties:
From Skyline HR30 to RS Turbo
From Skyline HR30 to RS Turbo

You’d probably say it is nothing special and just a bone stock RS Turbo on a set of SSR Hiro V1-R wheels.

Well, consider that the car started out as this bone stock Skyline HR30:

After six months a Skyline RS grille, a set of RS Watanabe rims and a PMCS sticker were added:

After four more months the Watanabes were swapped for a set of Work E-WIng Fin rims, a boot spoiler and a set of smoked DR30 tail lights:

He also added a Recaro seat and a pair of yellow fog lights at the same time…

Followed by a pair of white foglights, a set of Hiro V1-R rims and a RS Turbo sticker on the rear door:

And finally the iron mask was applied:

The only differences with a RS Turbo are the L engine under the hood and the missing rear window wiper.
The ugly duckling became a real swan!

Carina Sightings: Red shakotan Carina AA63

What would look better than a pink shakotan Carina AA63? A red shakotan Carina AA63!
Red shakotan Carina AA63
Red shakotan Carina AA63

This one is even lower than the pink one and it features clear headlights, fender flares and deeeeeep dished rims!

On the rear we find even wider fender flares and a tsurikawa:

Unfortunately I only found these two pictures, so I can’t exactly determine the rims used on this Carina. They do feature the eight spoke RS Watanabe R-type design, but I can’t tell for sure…

Japanese rustoseums (part twentynine)

Imagine getting a tip to collect two unused 80s Nissan Skylines and when arriving at the spot you find this to be parked between the bushes:
Nissan Skyline R30 drag racer rustoseum
Nissan Skyline R30 drag racer rustoseum

An 90s drag race monster based upon a Skyline DR30!

The hood is a lightweight FRP bonnet by Rebic, headlights have been replaced for dummy items and the front wheels are a set of lightweight Wats.

At the rear two big ass wheels plus tires, a wide (center) exhaust that would make my drainpipe die of envy. ;)

And what about the other Skyline?

Oh, nothing special: just a widebody Ironmask… w(°0°)w
