Carina Sightings: Yokosuka’s Toyota Carina AA63 for sale

Occasionally I browse Goo-Net to see if there are any interesting Toyota Carinas for sale, like a Carina Jeune or a 20v Carina. So when I spotted Yokosuka’s deep blue Toyota Carina AA63 for sale earlier today I really felt a strong pain in my heart:

Why? It is one of the nicest Carinas around and he put so much time and effort in the car!
Yes it really is the same

On the positive side, this allows us to have a peek on all the internals of this beauty: Continue reading

Family Album Treasures: Hayashi Streeted Carina GT-TR

It has been a while since I posted a Family Album Treasure and to be honest, this one does not meet my own definition of one (owner needs to be on the picture as well) but if you look at the picture it actually is:
Family Album Treasures: Carina GT-TR coupe TA63
A photo taken of a photo of a car should meet the requirements, right? 😉

Anyway, this TA63 Toyota Carina GT-TR coupe has been modified a bit somewhere in the 90s. It sits on a pair of dished Hayashi Street rims up front, a pair of (what looks like) dished 3 piece SSR mesh and at the front it received a lip from an AE86 or AE92. Also something odd is to be seen with the front bumper, but that could have been damage that has been repaired.

At the rear a small spoiler has been added: Continue reading

Shakotan Civic on Hayashi Streets

Three weeks ago I posted this Honda Civic in my Down on the Street regular. Back then I assumed that Hayashi Street rims are so rare and hard to find in the Netherlands that they were the Rota Shakotan knock offs.

And boy was I wrong there! Only three days later Bas Kuiper wrote the first comment that they are actually genuine. So I met up with him last Thursday, had a chat and shot some pictures of those very rare Hayashis and, of course, his Civic:

His Civic is lowered so much we had to meet up down the road as his Civic probably would have hit the speedbumps. In the end the spot itself turned out to be a very nice background. 🙂

Down on the Street: Shakotan Civic?

Last Friday I was commuting by car to my work and just got around the block of my house, spotted something in the left corner of my eye and slammed on the brakes real hard. Why? Well this is why:
Honda Civic Rota Shakotan
Yes, my eyes did not deceive me for a split second: I slammed my brakes for a set of Hayashi Street knock offs (They are genuine!) on this Honda Civic EG. 🙂
Still these Rota Shakotan (that’s what they are called) still look good on this Civic. 😉
Edit: they are genuine!

BTW: Don’t mind the bad quality of the picture: after the only parking spot that was left the day before was under a tree I found my car covered in bird-crap and I tried to make my side windows at least a bit more visible, hence all the fuzzy stuff in the picture. 😮

Family Album Treasures: flared Galant GTO

Everything is right in this photo: not only does the Mitsubishi Galant GTO have a set of (fender) flares but also its owner has its share in that!
Flared Mitsubishi Galant GTO
The GTO is standing on some typically late 70s kyusha shoes: a pair of deep dished Hayashi Streets and the same goes for its owner again. Now if only the GTO was smoking as well it would have been a perfect family album photo!
