Webmining: Nissan Laurel C130-EV

If you thought a 1973 pigsbutt Nissan Laurel SGX was one of the coolest cars of the 70s, behold the even cooler Nissan Laurel C130-EV:

Okay, I must admit it is not as good looking as its butaketsu brother but it certainly doesn’t run that hot!

This Electric Vehicle is powered by a 16Kw (21hp) electric motor propelling all those 1645 kilograms to an amazing top speed of 85 kilometer per hour! The lead-acid batteries make its radius an amazing 65 kilometer and I don’t want to know how long it would take before it is fully charged.

Still a cool idea though. If I had the money for it I would definitely get a second Carina and make my own Carina EV out of it. And of course retaining its RWD…

Carina Sightings: stolen Carina Coupe TA62

This Carina Sightings is actually a very sad posting: I received an email from Arpad that he bought >AndrewGL’s Carina Coupe TA62 and that he was very happy with it…until someone stole it a couple of days ago! πŸ™

This is how the Carina looked before it got stolen:

The thief was well prepared: they car was immobilized by removing the battery. Unfortunately that didn’t stop them.

The car is quite distinct: it is in the unusual brown/gold color (I guess 4A8), got a factory sunroof (rare!) and it features the deeper dished 14 inch Celica Supra wheels.

The engine is the 1.8 liter 3T and gearbox a T50.

The car was stolen last Thursday (18th August 2011) on the Mohai ΓΊt in Budapest.
If you have seen this car, recognize parts of it or want to verify the VIN: please let me know and I’ll pass on the info to Arpad!

The other me

After yesterdays shameless plug I’ll do another one today! πŸ˜‰

Not many people actually know what I’m doing for a living, so here it is: I’m a database specialist within Spil Games, specialized in high availability systems and MySQL. The latter is of course my main concern during the day.

If maintaining two blogs and a forum isn’t enough already I decided to dedicate another blog on my job and describe, in a high level overview, the challenges I encounter every day.

In case you are a techie and interested in this subject, you can find the blog here:
