Hilarious: Initial D Cosplay (part 2)

Seven years ago I posted a funny picture of Initial D cosplayers, so when I bumped into these two cosplay pictures I remembered the first vividly:
Hilarious: Initial D Cosplay
I must say these costumes are really sturdy made: three of them are based on shopping strollers. Itsuki’s Levin looks horrible, Takumi’s Sprinter Trueno even worse and the Subaru Impreza 22b looks acceptable. Ryosuke’s Mazda Savanna RX-7 looks the best and I bet the most sweat and tears were put into that costume!
BTW: the best looking character is Bunta Fujiwara in the Subaru! That guy really lives up to the original role!

Now there is another Takumi in the second picture: Continue reading

Female reporter in a Nissan R810V at 1986 JSPC

We all saw the video of Itsuki’s voice actor screaming his lungs out when Keiichi Tsuchya takes him on a drift ride. Well, how about this female reporter riding along with Haruto Yanagida in the Nissan R810V shortly before the 1986 JSPC?

She literally screams her lungs out after the first two corners and bursts into tears when the lap is over… Poor girl…

I must say I probably would not like to trade places with her. The Nissan R810V was based upon the Lola T810 chassis and was powered by a high performance tuned Nissan VG30ET V6 engine. There were no official power outputs of this car, but its IMSA brother had an power output of 641hp and only a weight of 860kg! Imagine driving launched from 90km/h to 300km/h in a few seconds on a wet Fuji Speedway straight: I would probably scream as well. 😮

Initial D: that’s why Takumi’s cupholder is up front!

I was browsing some videos on Youtube and came across this Japanese Candid Camera gag (at least that’s what I think it is) putting some celebrity in a Fire Cola commercial where the taxi driver drives Takumi style with a Toyota Crown S130:

Yep, all the cola end up on that poor celebrity! Again and again, and again, and again, and again … until some very well known cop arrives on the scene in Seibu Keisatsu style. 😀

As you can see, it is very difficult to keep even a cup of Cola in your hands when the driver is doing 180s and you are sitting in the back. That’s why Takumi has his cupholders up front and not in the back! 😉

Doing the Itsuki IRL

TonyA. from FuzzyFeeling posted some old videos from some Silvias drifting on Mikuni pass way way back in 2003 by Youtube user kcrmsr. kcrmsr posted some other videos as well so naturally I browsed all of them till there was no video left to watch. 😉

This one was a quite funny one, where he is doing an Itsuki in one of the Silvias (starting at 1:09):

People who have seen Initial D will probably know exactly what I mean with doing an Itsuki, for others: in the episode “The Rainy Downhill!” from Stage One Kenta Nakamura (member of the Red Suns) challenges Takumi for a downhill race in the rain on Mt. Myogi. Takumi accepts and asks Itsuki (who hitched a ride from Takumi) to sit on the rear bench of the Trueno. In effect Itsuki adds extra weight on the rear wheels while tumbling from left to right (and vice versa) through the interior of the Trueno.

As you can see, IRL it is the same. The guy can’t even sit straight while cornering the first three turns and on the last turn he almost ticks over…
